Odoru Daisousasen: Saimatsu Tokubetsu Keikai Special

Building on the recently finished TV series, Aoshima friend of the little man and beautiful yet fragile Sumire set about questioning a bunch of innocuous looking suspects as they try to find a killer. In the confusion, one suspect escapes, and grabs a rifle holding the whole office hostage. Despite the obvious danger, the whole situation is played for laughs, as Sumire struggles to deal with an earnest suitor (played by Hideaki Ito), Uozumi fights with his Finnish wife, and we see who is brave enough to stand up to the villain. The writers and cast are all having fun here highlighting the ludicrousness of having to deal with mundane personal problems in the midst of a very real crisis. Excellent.
