Avis à la une
Juan Carlos Buitron wrote, directed, and stars in this Chicago-made film. While the film has its rough edges, Buitron creates a rising sense of dread around the characters. Halting and tentative, Buitron is also convincing as a young man nearly overwhelmed by responsibilities.
The feature debut of a tremendously talented multi-hyphenate: Buitrón wrote, directed and stars in this gritty portrayal of family, friendship and love. While living in a neighborhood consumed by gangs and drugs (primarily supplied by his uncle), Christian only cares about three things: paying bills, getting good grades and trying to take care of his troubled teenage brother. Difficult circumstances allow for limited choices, and Christian desperately attempts to be the positive role model he never had. If only it were that easy...
An impressive first feature by Chicago-born and -based filmmaker Juan Carlos Buitron. Aided by a strong supporting cast, Buitron avoids many of the cliches of ghetto films, giving the film a more middle-class and multicultural focus, tackling the touchy subject of reverse discrimination, and taking a complex view of the hero's immaturity and the antagonist's tragic qualities.
Independent film producers John Vanis and Juan Carlos Buitron, have learned the beauty of turning a script into a visual art form with the making of Tio's Game. The film, originally titled Everyday, was produced by a group of young artists who used their skills and love of the arts to create a piece that is as inspiring as it is entertaining.
