Avis à la une
Standing outside her wedding venue, Harriet sees her new husband being quizzed by the gathering press. He's being questioned on the death of his first wife. He has been acquitted of her murder but the press are not convinced that's the end of the matter. After settling into her new home, Harriet starts to get warnings she's not safe there. Her stepdaughter Maggie springs from nowhere and makes friends with her. Maggie is being told to keep quiet about something. Then accidents start to happen where Harriet feels she is endangered. I kept thinking Harriet should have done her homework on the situation she was about to be married into. British horror fans should like Barbara Shelley taking center-stage in this mystery. Margaret Lockwood's daughter Julia plays Maggie. It's slow at first but there's enough tension in the second half.
Little wonder that this was a rare dramatic outing for Gerald Thomas and Peter Rogers after this film nearly everything was Carry On.This film is a rather dull thriller.Barbara Shenley marries Phillip Friend who has been acquitted of the murder of his first wife. However everyone thinks he did it.This film plods through to the denouement which comes as a relief even though the film lasts just over an hour.
