Avis à la une
This movie had it all. I enjoyed it for it's artistic quality. The music was great and made me move my feet. It is recommended by me to viewers that love music with an interesting plot. I like the music and how it fits in with the action sequences. The actors were very good in their roles. Each took to the plot their interesting personalities. The talent made it better through their outstanding acting ability. It wasn't a pretentious or over the top production. I really got to care about the people they each portrayed. Lots of plot twists plus I never would've guessed the ending in a million years. Worth watching for movie and music fans alike.
If you're into punk music and independent, low-budget films with originality, the movie 'That Darn Punk' has all the elements. As odd and quirky as some of the characters are, there are really people like them walking around who have not yet been committed to the local asylum. I've met them. Some of the acting could be better, but the main character, played by Joe Escalante of The Vandals, is very believable. The movie has a message and some good twists. It's entertaining with a great soundtrack and destined to be a cult classic.
while the film begins like a high school play, it and the actors seem to improve steadily. It's weird enough and real enough to give a vague David Lynchian feeling, most of all it's just fun, and if "Punk" represents a departure from the mainstream, then "that darn punk" is a true punk achievement.
At first I was kind of dissapointed with the video i bought for 15 bucks at a concert, with some real bad acting, vandals pretending to be another band yet still playing vandals songs, and a relatively slow pace. But all of the events in the movie start piling up on the main character (and viewer) and create such a sense of chaos that you want to keep watching to see what else worse could happen to Dirk. And when I felt there was no way to end this mayhem without just cutting to credits, there was that ending. And all was resolved and I was left a satisfied viewer then BAM I was shocked (if you've seen it you know what I mean) and something happened that was so totally un-Hollywood that it gives the whole viewing experience a punk rock feel. That was the punkest way to end the movie. Movie up to ending- 2/4 Movie with 'ending'- 3/4 whole movie- 4/4!! See it and watch through the whole thing! Although a lot of it seems a little too conventional and linear, once it was over I just wanted to go out and jump in a mosh pit!
This was a very cool movie. The vandals are a very awesome band, and did a good job making this movie. I should also add that the sound track for the movie really rocked. I highly recommend getting it. This is a movie for any real punk fan!
