The S.D. Burman show

You may have watched thousands of movies on this story line but take a risk to watch this movie only if you like good music & songs, that too from the one & only S.D. Burman, who presumably had his last release with this film.

RAJESH SHARMILA at their best

This is a soft romantic movie which is all about sacrifice. Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore play the roles of estranged lovers and are busy sacrificing for each other until they unite in the end. It is a tear jerker which is a near classic. The music by S D Burman is very melodious but could not be a great success as the movie did not do very well primarily due to the fact that its release was delayed. The movie is again not available easily in India on DVD/CD and people are craving to see the movie. The characters are very strong in the movie and sacrifice for each other. Rajesh Khanna has put in a stellar performance and is aided by Sharmila and the child artiste. Prem Chopra another regular Rajesh Khanna costar is also there to do his bit. Over all a movie which will remind us of the values in the 1970s which is not there in today's world. A must see.

Anecdotes
This was the last film in which the popular Rajesh-Sharmila team acted. It was delayed by 5 years. S. D. Burman composed the music despite being ill. Film was produced by Sharmila s Secretary. The tag of being one of the most successful romantic teams of their time, came to the pair as they had 6 hits of the 10 movies - Aradhana, Safar, Amar Prem, Daag, Choti Bahu and Raja Rani. Other 4 flopped badly but were critically acclaimed - Tyaag, Maalik, Aavishkar, Badnaam Farishte.
