When I last saw this movie it was the first movie screened at our neighbourhood new Cinema hall and we were 12 yr old immature kids who were more interested in the swank pushback seats and air conditioning and perhaps were a tad too young to enjoy movies of this kind. Then thanks to IMDB i found that its available on prime video. Hema Malini's act was very composed in all characters she played and not to miss out her dance performance. The rest of the cast performed as they did in all movies of the 70s and 80s era. The locales chosen for the film were grand and the story telling lucid as expected when a Novel gets adapted, though one wishes that rather than the reincarnation drama the makers had stuck to the original script.

The strongest part of the film was the soundtrack, I wish someone can remaster the same in digital stereo for each track is a classic and the overall track is an ideal fusion between classical and western music and appears still contemporary. Strongly recommended to watch.

Mehbooba was a lavishly mounted reincarnation story of two lovers Super Star Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini. The movie directed by Shakti Samanta has great music by R D Burman and Kishore Kumar singing some great numbers. The movie is well mounted, has great sets and is shot in the exotic locales and is a classic in its own way.Rajesh Khanna puts in a great performance and looks different in the movie. PremChopra, Madan Puri,Sujit Kumar and Asrani put in a good supportive roles. It is must watch as to what Rajesh Khanna is capable of delivering and of course for the great music. This movie is available and is a must watch for the sets, locales, dances, music and performance of the Super Star.

Some great music and well acted. I first saw this haunting movie in India when I was 10 years old, and enjoy it just as much, if not more now in my late 30s, for understanding more Hindi! OK, Rajesh Khanna's star was probably on the wane at this time, but he still delivers a strong performance, as does Hema, Prem Chopra et al. So what if Rajesh Khanna was overweight? The world isn't made up exclusively of thin people. What matters is that he conveys the feelings of the Romantic hero (Suraj) like no one else. There's always depth to his performance. Hema looks beautiful and her dances are pure art. Prem Chopra is perhaps more of a pantomime baddie, but still gives an enjoyable performance, and the often unsung Asrani also delivers another amusing cameo in his role as Suraj's manager. If there is one criticism of this film, it is that the lip-synching to the music is not up to the standard it should be - something that the director should have sorted out. RD Burman's music is truly excellent, though.

Mehbooba features the combination of Rajesh Khanna with his pet director Shakti Shamantha. It also has Hemamalini with whom Kaka has been paired the most number of times in his distinguished film career. The film is a romantic musical with the theme of reincarnation.

The true spirit of the movie is its sublime music by R.D Burman. It is one of his best works. All the songs are melodious & beautifully picturised.

The film has got excellent locations, photography, music & dances excellent choreographed. Hemamalini get a chance to parade her dancing talents in this film. Villainy by Prem Chopra is routine.

Rajesh Khanna is as usual lovely in the 2 roles but here, he is a bit overweight. Yet his charm is intact. It was his home production & it was released to prop up his sagging career.

The weak point is the script though it has been adapted from a Gulshan Nanda novel. The 2nd half is very predictable & does not hold your interest that much.

The film released with high expectations because of the excellent team but met with only an average success.

However, Mehbooba is one of the greatest musicals of all times in Hindi cinema.
