Nice to see Myrna Loy get an Oscar--finally.

This was the year of "Dances With Wolves", but what stands out for me is seeing one of the greatest actresses ever, Myrna Loy, finally receive an honorary Academy Award. Long overlooked by the academy, she finally got the award this year, but was sick and could not accept in person. They had to have it from her Manhattan apartment. Too bad they did not give this award to her when her health was better. Also, this was the year Kathy Bates pulled an upset over Joanne Woodward and Angelica Huston to win the best actress award for "Misery".

Anecdotes
When Billy Crystal introduced Annette Bening, he said she was would be "coming soon as none other than Catwoman in Batman II". A month later Bening had to back out of Batman : Le Défi (1992) due to her pregnancy. The part went to Michelle Pfeiffer instead.

Gaffes
In his opening remarks, Academy President Karl Malden recalled that "in 1981, Thomas Edison put his patent application on his movie picture camera". What he meant to say was 1891.
