This film is based on a successful play by Jaan Tätte. When a rain-soaked couple, Laura and Roland, seek shelter at the remote home of the reclusive Osvald, what begins as a strange encounter quickly spirals into a surreal confrontation with desire, money, and identity. Osvald's outlandish offer-one billion dollars for Laura-exposes the fragility of love and the seductive power of wealth.

The film thrives on its premise, forcing its characters into bizarre moral territory. Laura and Roland's initial amusement gradually gives way to confusion, temptation, and eventual unravelling. The transformation of each character-particularly Osvald's eerie shift from simple host to enigmatic figure of power-is both intriguing and unsettling.

Despite the film's compelling themes, its stage-play origins are difficult to ignore. The dialogue can feel overly theatrical and contrived, and some character decisions stretch believability, especially given the magical elements are never fully grounded in the world the film portrays. Still, this strange fusion of fairy tale logic and modern existentialism creates a haunting atmosphere reminiscent of David Lynch.

Visually modest and low-budget, the film's intimacy suits its philosophical ambitions, though its uneven pacing and theatrical tone may alienate some viewers. Yet, this film leaves a lingering question: what would you trade for ultimate wealth? While imperfect, the film is provocative and imaginative-an odd, thoughtful gem worth your time.
