Novemberinte Nashtam

Novemberinte Nashtam is a Malayalam language film starring Madhavi in the lead role. Prominent other roles are of Ramachandran as her brother. And Prathap Pothan as her lover.

The film is a gloomy one. The ending may leave one depressed. But it will stay on with you. Written and directed by the genius Padmarajan, the film is well directed and enacted. The movie is a stark reminder to youngsters to prioritise family over so-called lovers, both you and the person and not known each other enough and you never know when things could go south.. So always stick to the family.

Madhavi plays her role as the let-down lover aptly. Her realisation of her brother's love and support throughout the film makes the film worth watching for sure. The last scene and the revenge she takes is actually thus a reflection of this indentedness and gratitude. Although could have walked out, she didn't feel peace would follow her. She had loved the wrong person, and a person who had no remorse on breaking hearts and hurting sentiments. When this reached the physical level upon her brother, she took matters in her own hands. Ramachandran and Madhavi are very close siblings living a middle class life with their parents . He is very protective about her to the extent of dominating most of her decisions . She listens to him most of the time . Prone to hallucinations , she is the protected daughter of the family .

She is still in college and in love with Pratap a budding doctor . He keeps dilly dallying marriage for some silly reason . She speaks her heart out to her brother .When her brother confronts him for marriage , he gives some stupid reason and leaves the town for further studies . Depressed , Madhavi becomes a recluse. They put her in an asylum as she was carrying PP's child at that time but had aborted . She is on the verge of losing her sanity . After 3 years she comes out fully cured . The whole family rejoices and starts groom search for her . PP returns back as a well established doctor. When Madhavi meets PP again she expresses her desire to marry him. Her brother goes to speak to him again . PP is now divorced and lives alone in a palatial bungalow . He refuses to acknowledge that Madhavi was carrying his baby and shows no interest in marrying her now . Humiliated and sad, the brother returns home . Madhavi, aware of this change in PP , goes to meet him . She sweet talks him and after a passionate time together , she strangles him with his own belt . Its revenge for insulting her brother . Madhavi mostly wears white sarees to show her innocent college girl status .Ramachandran is perfect as the big protective brother keeping an eye on his younger sister. Surekha looks beautiful in simple cotton sarees as his wife torn between brother and sister . PP is likeable even in his role as a young lover turned villain. Over all , a fine family movie .
