Just a 15min Newsshow on air since germany became a democracy, or at least in the early years of the democratic germany. At the beginning this kind of journalism was a very important newsboard and a support of the young democracy, It is still today, but the flaws of modern journalism also found their way in this classic newsflash. Too often too unimportant news while forgetting to the commitment of democratic discourse and discussion. But still a must go to stay informed.

I used to think this news channel was like every other when I was younger but when I got older I saw other news channels like the ones in the USA which are just seeing things from one side the entire time. This channel most of the time doesn't chose sides at least when it doesn't need to: it just reports the news straight to the point and doesn't delay things with unnecessary drama or music. It shows real pictures and brings 1-2 interviews from the area where the news happened per "Tageschau" which is 15 minutes from 20:00 to 20:15. And at the end there is even the weather. Only weird thing is that they say the lottery numbers like it just doesn't fit in. But oh well, it's still a great news channel, especially compared to most others.
