Avis à la une
Saying this movie is better than House Party 1 though 3 is a matter of opinion,Mine is,while this movie is good but,I grew up on that kind bad language and lifestyle,of the first three movies. Those movies were hilarious! This movie didn't need to be rated "R" because it was for just the "f" word it just was to too "fake" prissy teen like(I.E not how teens really are)Watch the movie "thirteen" ,thats shows how it is and in some cases how worse it was for some people growing up!Back to House Party 1 had the very funny comic Robin Harris as Kids father, and the awesome Martin Lawruance*.As for the music I like the old School dance songs and Dance offs.
House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute (2001) is a movie that I recently watched on HBOMAX. The storyline follows a young man who pretends to be sick and stays in his uncle's house while he is out of town on vacation. He invites all of his friends over to throw a house party of epic proportions; meanwhile, his sister will try to prove he's playing sick and throw his plans for a loop.
This movie is written and directed by Chris Stokes (You Got Served) and stars Marques Houston (You Got Served), Marques Houston (Dream On), Meagan Good (Think Like a Man), Mari Morrow (National Security) and Alexis Fields (Sister, Sister).
This movie is so bad and doesn't even try to be good. The entire fake sick set-up was corny and not well done. The acting in this is atrocious. Who thought Houston was a good lead character? The comedic writing was painful. The uncle was way over done and not entertaining, the mother and sister were ridiculous and the party was a letdown. Even the soundtrack wasn't good...how do you mess that up? While the end called for a sequel, fortunately it never happened.
Overall, the only thing good about this movie...is Meagan Good is in it. I would score this a 1/10 and recommend skipping it.

I'm not sure why the producers needed to trade on the name of a somewhat successful movie franchise because the title suggests that it is a sequel to the first three movies..which it is not. Even though Marques Houston did appear in "HP3", he played a totally different character (he was, eight years older) in this film. Okay...so Reid and Martin weren't the most talented and couldn't carry a film all by themselves..but to trade on the HP franchise seems to me that there could have made some sort of reference (albeit minor) to the earlier movies. I'm sure everyone who wanted to see it was "hoodwinked"--into thinking that they were seeing a sequel--not a totally different film with a familiar name. And I'm sorry...Kym Whitley is not funny, and could not hold a candle to the late Robin Harris, Ketty Lester, or DC Curry in the earlier films. Although Meagen Good and Mari Morrow are a substantial visual diversion...I have to give this a THUMBS DOWN!! Just naming the film "Down to the Last Minute" would have been OK. Furthermore, the Hudlin brothers (who produced the first three movies) were not involved in the making of this film.
I just saw this film and IMO it STUNK. I am a big fan of The House Party movies and this particular one was not even funny. Someone said the music in this one was better than the others. I strongly disagree. The music has no substance rhythm or beat to it. Just sounded like alot of mumbling and people beating drumsticks together. At least 1-3 were funny and had at least myself laughing the whole time. I equate the 1st 3 movies to the Friday series now. House Party 4 cannot touch the first 3 or any of the Friday movies.
I think it's current rating was a little low. It definitely had its issues that everyone points out. Yeah kid n play weren't in it but so what. I would've given it a 4, but Meagan Good was nice to look at.
The magic from the previous 3 wasn't there either. The music was less hip hopish and more boy bandish, but that's what everyone was listening to then though.
Meagan Good. Yeah.
