A triangle lover story presented with a difference

It's a simple triangle love story presented nicely, especially after Naseem arrives back. Highlight of the movie is characterization of Nawab Naseemuddin's role, played by Rehman, who always tries to settle the story in his own favor rather than fighting with protagonist or creating ruckus. And he delivers a power packed performance. The next best is Waheeda Rehman as Mehunnisa. The lady is a class apart while performing pre-marriage bubbly scenes or sad scenes. Rajendra Kumar is as usual. Others have contributed well. Nice but not so popular Naushad music with songs; 1) Kal Raat Zindagi Se Mulaqaat, 2) Main Idhar Jaun Ya, 3) Ae Shahar-e-Lucknow, 4) Dil-e-Betaab Ko Seene Se, 5) Dil Ki Kashti Bhanwar Mein, 6) Sadka Utariye Ke Na Lage, 7) Chehre Se Apne Aaj To Parda, 8.) Jane Wale Tera Khuda and 9) Mere Ghar Se Pyar Ki Palki.

S.U. Sunny died after production had started and the credits include the following dedication : "In loving memory of the grand gentleman who started this film with all his resourcefulness and dedication to work, we humbly dedicate Palki to the Late S.U. Sunny" The credits also include a photographic portrait of S.U. Sunny over which a voice says in Hindi "The whole world was listening enthusiastically but I got lost in thoughts while telling the story".
