Nothin 2 Lose is a urban version of the old get married or I'll leave you. Brain Hooks is very good in the lead role and he has the charisma to carry his own studio film. It's a shame this film didn't get a wide big theate release it's a very funny and heart felt film.
I'm sorry, no offense to all those who thought highly of this flick, but lets be serious; "a 5 rating?" I can't name one thing that is good about this movie. First off the directing; the director didn't set up not one interesting shot. He also didn't coerce his actors into making better acting choices. The cinematography; I like the fact that they had utilized the video format instead waiting to obtain enough money to shoot it on film. But they should've shot the film like as if it were film, or maybe they don't know about the five c's of cinematography: camera angles, continuity, cutting, close-ups, and composition. The acting: "WHACK!!!!!" The acting sucked. The main character did all right, but even he was trying too hard. The rest of the cast was the worse but maybe you can blame that on the lame dialogue, which brings me to the horrible writing. The writing; "you got to be kidding me." The characters were just as weak as the dialogue. And why all these films supposedly portraying black American life is usually with a wedding in them? I can go on and on. The bottom line, this movie is "whack!" Out of ten stars I gave this film 1 (awful) and I grade it with a big, fat, red "F!"
I happened up on this movie the other night, and it held my attention from the first moment. It has a low budget feel, but the script is so funny that it doesn't matter. It was a nice surprise to see something this funny that I'd never heard of.
Love the movie! I just wish they had listed the music of the soundtrack. I can't find any of it besides two songs over 10 years. If anyone can help please leave review.
Peeped this late @ night Friday and found myself laughing off the couch. The decision to commit, or be a "player" Good little movie....strong language, but a definite to watch with the wife/girlfriend especially if the wedding bells could be ringing

- AnecdotesTo differentiate from the title of the Martin Lawrence movie "Nothing To Lose(1997)" which came out 3 years earlier, the spelling of this film's title is visibly different. Instead of Nothing it was spelled Nottin' and instead of actually using the word To they instead use the number 2. While the word Lose stayed the same.
- GaffesWhen Kwame stop's Mookie's, and Yasmine's wedding towards the end of the movie and marries Yasmine instead, all the guests clap and are happy but Mookie's guests should not be happy or clapping if Kwame married Yasmine instead of him.
