City of the Rich showcases Malaysian talent at its worse. The situations and acting are down-right hilarious. It is delightful to watch the actors attempt to speak English, while their facial expressions mimic stone, or that of an over-exuberant clown.
This is not to say City of the Rich is without good moments. It is fun to watch Han Lee try to pull a murky sulk and pretend to be broody. The cast also provide great laughs, but unfortunately this is done unintentionally. This fails as a soap-opera, but could have been better as a sitcom ... after all, it is silly to the point of being hilarious.
