I saw this when it was shown on the Screen 2 season on BBC2 and ever since, tiny glimmers of it still stick around in my thoughts.
There is something about it that was so...the production, script, everything...just...little things like Gus's mum's tablecloth, or the notion of leatherclad trainspotters...it all added up to one really great piece. I guess I've always felt comforted by the sounds of trains...(eep) but there's something so pretty about an empty railway platform too...
I think there's a script of the screenplay which I might seek out...
It's a brilliant, brilliant film. It's just such a shame that my brother taped over it and BBC2 have a habit of never showing these things ever again...However, perhaps if they received requests by a few people they might take notice...

Wow loved this adaptation on TV and kept me interested all the way through. The plot etc. Loved almost every role that all portrayed. But i missed the very start as i was late viewing this brilliant fun drama. Its a great production in its own rite as "trainspotters and lovers" will find a soft spot for, as "Gus and Natalie" go thru the days, there romance blossoms ...
Worth seeing if you can get the chance but I've never seen a repeat of this amazing film.... Hope 1 day will come when there's a DVD out soon ... please let me know if there is :-) its "bostin".

I love this film. I want a copy of it. I can't get it but I want it anyway. And no-one seems to have seen it, which is a terrible shame as it is fantastic.
The plot is that Gus, a dedicated trainspotter, finds himself drawn away from his beloved train station by new girlfriend Natalie. His friends find it difficult to come to terms with the 'new' Gus and some classic scenes arise, including the fantastic 'high-noon' trainspot...
It's well worth seeing if you ask me...comic, tragic and chock-full of wonderful parodies of small-town Englishness. See it, if you can find it!

I have to agree with Kandypop and so glad to know others out there had the same experience.
This was one of those random gems when I was still a teen on a hazy Sunday it popped up on TV and it has stuck with me ever since.
I love how the Brtish film industry is filled with these understated gems that hardly get seen by the rest of the world. They really need to broadcast them more.
If anyone knows how to obtain a copy of this I would love to know please as it is seemings impossible and has been lost in time to the BBC archives!!!!
Its adapted from a theater play.

I love this film. I have a copy of this film. It took me years to track it down but I managed it. I remember seeing it on TV when I was a lad.
