The Bone Yard

I lived in Riverside when the trial took place in 1999. I remember bits and pieces about the story. To see it portrayed in documentary fashion was really interesting. The acting as good and as far as I can tell their facts were well represented. He just goes to show you how very human beings can be.

In the early 1980s, Leonard Lake and Charles Ng murdered as many as 25 people, perhaps more. The story of these two monsters is thoroughly documented, and this documentary covers all the important points; it includes reconstructions and interviews with many of those involved.

Because Lake committed suicide after his arrest, only Ng would stand trial, and "The Bone Yard" is mostly the story of how he was brought to trial. California has produced more than its fair share of serial killers, including killer couples, but if you thought you'd seen it all with Bittaker and Norris or the Hillside Stranglers, be aware that Lake and Ng take it to a whole new level.

Although Ng was convicted in 1999, he still has not been executed, and it is quite likely he will eventually die from natural causes on death row.
