    Fun game!

Ya know, I don't care what people say about the SaGa series. To me, it is plenty of fun. The SaGa series is a non-linear RPG series by Square that focuses not on one character, but many.

There is Blue, the wizard whom must hunt out his twin brother.

There is Red, a sentai-like hero whom must save his family.

There is Coon/Riki, a cute little critter whom must save his/her/it's world from rotting away.

There is the robot T260G, a robot that ponders its existance.

There is Emilia, a model/actress whom is falsely accused of killing her husband and must find the assassin whom killed him.

There is Asellus, a girl whom was ressurected by the mystic emperor and must ponder about her destiny and mystic kind.

And finally, there is Lute, a young boy whom gets caught in all the journeys.

How people cannot like this game is beyond me. It is quite addictive and there is alot to see and do in SF. But one problem is, that some quests and monsters can be FRUSTRATING! But then again, this IS a non-linear game.

Play the SaGa series and give it a chance.

Multiple characters and multiple stories, sounds great...but they dropped the ball.

I owned this game at one point, and part of me wishes I still did. This is not due to the fact that this game was overly good or anything, its just that I now enjoy collecting video games. I wish I had all the games I traded in, even the really horrid ones. This game was from Square, which to me always means awesome games...for the most part. This is one of those games that fall into the other part. Not that it is all bad, it just is not all that good. It falls into the middle and with a few more improvements it could of easily been a classic. Of course, if it got any worse it could be a unplayable game. This one lets you pick one of seven characters and you must guide them along in their quest. You have a character looking for revenge, a character looking to buff up on her magic and then you have Lute, the character who kills this game for me. With all the characters you can go anywhere and do anything, but there is always something that you have to do to 'win' the scenario. With Lute, all it seems you can do is fight one character to progress passed his story. There are no other quests Lute must perform thus making his level extremely boring as for the most part you are simply grinding and trying to make him powerful enough to win. The combat was different too, sometimes being innovative is a good thing and results in some really exciting new game play, but here it kind of blows as does the leveling. I hear it is worse in a later game in this series...I believe it is in either Unlimited or Romancing. The characters look right out of the 8 or 16 bit era, but that is kind of cool, the thing that kills this game is the fact at times it is a bit to random and open ended. This feature and the leveling completely negate the positives of the game like the old school look and the backgrounds. Could of been better, could of been worse, as is it is neither.

    great music!!

Although I may mostly agree for people's opinions that this game is sucks in battle-system, nonetheless allow many story combinations, the BEST thing about this game is: its music! It's irresistable. If you like to hear gigantic and cool battle music, not boring at all, and if you like to hear beautiful and calm music, with beautiful 'strange' chords combination - unique characteristic of music by Kenji Ito - then Saga Frontier is your choice!

Good or Bad? Bad or Good?

This game has a unique concept of letting you play multiple characters in their own different quest, but the problem was that this game is too non-linear! You go here, you go there, and you get lost. It takes forever. And the battles suck, too. It could have been improved.

    • Anecdotes
This game SaGa Frontier is only on the Japan Playstation Classic Mini Console bundled with 20 games.
    • Versions alternatives
In the original version,in Asellus' story,it explains the relationship between Asellus and Princess Shirobara (White Rose),but in the US and UK versions, for the obvious reason, cut out that part.
