After the first screening the producer was totally unhappy with the movie and said that nobody would have watched it. Carlo and Enrico Vanzina were offended and told him to wait for January 6 to see the results. Nowadays it has become a cult movie.
The filming was done in three weeks during autumn 1983. Where the snow wasn't already present, they put white foam on the ground and the trees, cotton on roofs and terraces and used white bed sheets for longer shots.
