After death his father by committing suicide , young William Legrand : Andrés Alexis is in bankruptcy and along with his faithful friend Jupiter : Juan Carlos Lee set out in seeking of fortune . It turns out to be an inferior movie without interest and minimum budget . Stars an unknown cast with exception for the illustrous secondaries Antonio Mayans and Frank Braña in brief special appearances , both of whom played lots of pictures of all kinds of genres during the Sixties , Seventies and Eighties . However , he previously made successful films as The Rift , Slugs , The New Extraterrestrials , Supersonic Man, The fabulous journey to the Centre of the Earth and especially his big hit : Pieces . This Golden Beetle 1999 was lousily directed by Vicente J. Martin , packing several flaws , gaps and failures . Nevertheless , a bit later , he directed a decent Slasher titled Tuno Negro.
