For the hack who writes liner notes on SWV video boxes, it doesn't take much to impress. Sure there are pretty French actresses in THE NIBBLERS, but the hardcore porn footage is mainly ho-hum.
It's almost a one-man show, as the hubby, named "John Mop" in the anglicized credits, seems to be getting all the action, until late in the film there are some other actors introduced briefly for variety. He's a typical womanizer, giving his lovely wife (named "Lydia Shane" for no apparent reason) idiotic excuses as he has sex with a beautiful, buxom mistress and plenty of other women.
Plot has him conniving to wear down his young wife, and make her as decadent as he is. There is some fairly interesting maneuvering, as he pulls tricks on wifey, she fakes out the mistress, and the mistress schemes on her own, but it adds up to nothing. Just an excuse for as many sex scenes as can be crammed into the bloated 85-minute running time (an eternity for porn films in the '70s).
Hero vaguely resembles a French version of Jamie Gillis, or Sami Frey for us classier fans. The women are all attractive (de rigeur in Continental porn) but with no knockouts. Sexiest sequence has to be a lesbian-oriented massage scene -that oiling up routine is always evidence in my book to the superiority of softcore over hardcore in basic arousal potential.
As far as the endlessly repeated and touted tale that West Coast porn maven Friedman won the rights to this film from Continental porn guy Hakim in a poker game, who cares? I would guesstimate the U.S. import value to standard-issue '70s French porn was probably about $3000, if anything, as most of the hundreds of Gallic junkers of the late '70s were available at the international markets (Cannes, Mifed, etc.) with no takers.
