A bizarre, chilling film.

I saw Kill By Inches at the Brussels International Fantasy Film Festival 2000 (last year) and I can say it was the most unique and stunningly original film there. Great cast of strange characters.

I was truly struck by the studied, chilling atmosphere and dark mood in this story of a young tailor (played by Emmanuel Salinger) who goes insane, inch by inch by inch, by degrees. Very singular, unique film, very rare to see these days.

Eraserhead meets Pi

Even though this film is in color, I couldn't help but notice the darkly subtle touches which reminded me of early David Lynch (Right down to the main character Thomas being Henry'esque from Eraserhead) and Darren Aronofsky's "?". Tension, paranoia, and overall uneasiness shape this movie from beginning to end. The soundtrack is also highly effective in conveying Thomas' descent into measuring madness. I recommend this if my description seems interesting to you.

Strange

I saw this film on DVD. Really creepy stuff. I couldn't help wondering why it was so creepy. First, the music is very eerie. And also the visual, with very strange colors, almost candy-like. The actor looks like a french Robert Downey junior. This film could have been made as an animation. It's so detailed with fantasy and fairy tales themes. It's worth taking a look at it. I've never seen a film quite like this before. The story is very bizarre, a tailor going on a mad rampage! The kid who plays in the film is very cute and a pretty good actor. The film reminded me of a lynch/ Gilliam atmosphere with strange characters.
