Y'a du jonc dans les bambous

It starts with Chan Sing released from prison goes to a graveyard. He proceeds to dig up his mother's grave and finds a chest. Many men appear, they fight, and the chest of gold is taken. Chan Sing tracks the gold all the way to Lung Fei's house. They talk and the story comes out. Mother died and left a chest of gold. She did not want her gangster son, Lung Fei, to have it. Plus, Chan Sing went to prison for him.

Chan Sing is now Saint Chan sing and he makes it clear that he expects his brother to be a better person (for Mom's sake) or else - he doesn't say what. Yes, that is the plot of this story. This results in a movie made from ridiculously contrived events leading to really good fights. I stuck around for the really good fights.

This movie might be best watched with frequent use of the fast forward. Chan Sing is a real karateka and he gives it all in every fight sequences. Kurata Yasuaki is also the real deal. He doesn't fight until after an hour into the movie. All of the fights are hand to hand, no weapons at all.

My copy is in surprisingly good shape for some run of the mill movie from 1973. It is wide screen, English dubbed and the video is DVD quality.

I rate this as your average martial arts movie from the 1970s. That's all, folks.
