Anu Malik lifted songs for this film and the filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt or Anu Malik did not credit original composer AR Rahman. They did not realize that Rahman would become a phenomenon and this copied music and film will be exposed in Hindi speaking belt in few years.
It is said that Nadeem Shravan were signed for the film but Mahesh Bhatt kept insisting they lift A.R. Rahman's tunes from the original. Naddem Shravan refused and walked out of the film.
Mamik was offered Deepak Tijori's role when the Bhatt's were having a problem with Deepak.

The song Roop Suhana Lagtha Hain was a direct copy of Ottagathai Kattiko from the original The Gentleman. The same song was sampled for the song Dil Mera Deewana Dhadke from the movie Mafia. The beats of the song " Dil Ki Halaat" from Janta Ki Adalat, was sampled from "Roop Suhana Lagta Hain" from The Gentleman. The beats from the song "Tu Jhumta Huva Sawan" Mr. Azaad, were sampled from the beats of the song "Roop Suhana Lagta Hain" from The Gentleman.
