Avis à la une
Not since 1986 had the Transformers hit the movie screens. But after 12 years, they're back! And it's about time! The movie is composed of three segments, two of which are recycled from the Canadian CG Beast Wars program. The highlight is the original 45 minute cel-animated segment called "Beast Wars Second:Lio Convoy Kiki Ippatsu". It's good to see hand drawn Transformers again, and the animation is light years above that of the Beast Wars Second TV series. The plot is fairly similar to the previous TF movie (Giant Monster Transformer can only be stopped by the Matrix), but it's still a lot of fun to watch! TRANSFORM!!
To set the stage for this review, I have never watch Beast Wars nor Beast Wars II, but that's not going to stop me from watching this movie. After watching the movie, Beast Wars II: Lio Convoy's Close Call! (1998) is yet another phenomenal Transformers animated movie.
Positives for Beast Wars II: Lio Convoy's Close Call! (1998): First off, th animation in this movie looks glorious from beginning to end, then again this movie was made by Japan and they are the masters of animation. I liked the set of characters that we get in this movie. All of the transformation sequences in this movie are spectacular. And finally, the action sequences in this movie are phenomenal.
Overall, Beast Wars II: Lio Convoy's Close Call! (1998) is another fantastic entry into the Transformers Movie Franchise.

- AnecdotesGalvatron plans to summon Megatron to assist him, but it's not clear which Megatron he wants: the Transformers (1984) Megatron or the Beast Wars: Transformers (1996) Megatron. Given the appearance of Optimus Primal from Beast Wars, it's likely he wanted the latter version.
- Crédits fousThe end credits feature drawings of the characters drawn by children.
- Versions alternativesAn edited version with English subtitles has been released by Censaur Video. Although the main programme (Lio Convoy kiki ippatsu!) remains unchanged, both the recap of the Canadian Beast Wars series and the episode "Bad Spark" (again from the Canadian series) have been removed.
