Avis à la une
I was pretty excited to see a movie that had the comedic talents of Thomas Haden Church and Damon Wayans displayed right on the cover of the video box, so I rented Goosed without a second thought. Boy would I like that 3.50 back. Damon Wayans was alright, I guess, and Thomas Haden Church was WAY underused. He didn't even get a chance to start to show what a comedic genius he is. Everything else about this movie completely blew. I suppose its possible just I don't understand it because of the whole female perspective thing, if thats the case I'm glad I am a guy. I'd hate for my life to be a less-than-watchable movie.
Just filled with crude stereotypes of Jewish parents and blacks, this film keeps feeling like someone is improvising from an empty story to start with. Tilly keeps chasing men until she can find the predicted love of her life, Dr. Steven, but only finds one disaster after another. Some name puns get overkilled with Richard, an annoying guy at work. The Uncola man even shows up to analyze what she learned from all these guys and why she keeps chasing them. It was an endurance test to view more than 10 minutes before quitting.
Granted, this movie is no gem nor is it a brillant peice of film. It is however, comical though predictable...It sets itself up to be something a little more serious, but falls from grace and ends up a comedy. Danielle Harris is gorgeous as the younger Charlene. Tilly gives her usual excellent performance as the older Charlene, trying to find love...ends up with 2 kids, a few X husbands but a very happy, full life. Nothing heartwarming...just fun!

I am a big Jennifer Tilly fan and found her enjoyable to watch in this rather silly but fun picture.
She breezes through the film enticing men with her wiles which are considerable in my opinion.

Joan Rivers and the fella playing her husband made this movie something of value to me. And Jennifer Tilly is pretty cute too. But to me, the parents- played by Joan Rivers and Robert Klein- were the stand-outs in an otherwise lackluster film.
Disappointing to me the way the film ultimately turned out (not as mystical and romantic as I'd hoped), but all the way up to the end, it had promise to get better. I appreciate the campiness, I appreciate the old-fashioned something about it that I don't know how to describe... I do like it...but still, it's lacking.
This is one of those films that falls below its potential, but is still an okay watch.
