Jian ren ben se

This is a comedy drama about a group of well-to-dos led by the wealthy Mrs. Kang, who compete upon one selves to see who is the craftiest in the bunch. However, when a close friend succumbs to a heart attack, the group bands together to seek revenge on the man directly responsible for his death.

This film lacks much of the ingredients to make an entertaining feature: action, suspense, humor and momentum. The plot is very slow to catch on and the movie's subplots, especially that involving the little romance triangle between Ricky Hui, Tiffany Lau and Samuel Cheung. Only well into the second half of the movie where you will find an ounce of excitement - particularly the part where the revenge part take place.

Overall, it's a really slow movie that might put you to sleep.
