I was about 13 when i watched this on tv in the early 80's.
Just came accross this on Prime video. Omg. I loved it, i had a poster and everything. Just a really great show. Well acted, interesting and shows the horrors of people from the uk aboard convict ships. Has humour and love in the mix. Enjoyable.

I have never seen this miniseries before and I was blown away by it. And yet, it was made over 40 years ago! The script is exceptional as is the acting. I was convinced it was a BBC production but it was made in South Australia. And so little has been written about it and where are the actors today? Why isn't this production award winning and considered iconic? How astonishing was the actress who played Sara Dane? (Juliet Jordan). How astonishing was the script! I was transported to this remarkable period in Australian history - truly transported to the early settlers who established the colony and created Sydney and NSW. The trials and tribulations of the people, the injustices, hardships, the challenging politics and corruption, the romance - forging a future that created the Australia of today- all of that is so well depicted. It is a rare thing to see such a timeless classic still captivating and immersive as it was when first made. It would have to be one of the most magnificent Australian film productions ever created.
