- [walks away]

- Cinderella: I doubt he has any idea how a girl should be treated.
- The Prince: Like a princess, I suppose.
- Cinderella: No, like a person, with kindness and respect.
- Minerva: Did you ever see such a lazy girl in your life?
- Calliope: Who are you calling lazy?
- Minerva: Not you, stupid, Cinderella!
- Calliope: Oh. Who are you calling stupid?

- Lionel: Are there any other young women in the house?
- Stepmother: [speaking in high-pitched voice] How young?
- Lionel: Younger than you.
- Minerva: [singing] Why would a fella want a girl like her? / A frail and fluffy beauty? / Why can't a fella ever once prefer / a solid gal like me!
- Calliope: She's a frothy little bubble / with a flimsy kind of charm / and with very little trouble / I could break her little arm!
- Cinderella: But those three are all I've got. Before my father died, I promised him that we'd stay together as a family.
- Fairy Godmother: Cinderella, this can't be what your daddy had in mind for you, baby.
- Queen Constantina: We're just planning a little get together, nothing fancy. Just family, a few close friends and all the eligible young women in the kingdom.
- The Prince: Mother.
- Queen Constantina: We're only talking four or five hundred at the most.
- Fairy Godmother: Impossible! / For a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage / Impossible! / For a plain country bumpkin and a prince to join in marriage!/ The world is full of zanies and fools who don't believe in sensible rules.
- Fairy Godmother: Cinderella, if you really love him, why don't you let him know?
- Cinderella: How can I? Look at me.
- Fairy Godmother: Do you really think he fell in love with your fancy gown and your pretty braids?
- Cinderella: I don't know anymore and if you hadn't help me.
- Fairy Godmother: You didn't need my help. You just thought you did. Believe in yourself, Cinderella, and trust him to love you as you really are.
- Lionel: [singing and trying to count multiple ball decorations and dishes] His Royal Highness--200 orchids, 400 poppies, 600 roses, 800 lilies--Christopher Rupert--1,000 oranges, 2,000 plums-- Windermere Vladimir, Carl Alexander--raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, gooseberry--Francois Reginald, Lancelot Herman, son of Her Majesty Queen Constantina--chocolate, cheddar, and Charlotte, and Mazie-- son of His Caviar, King Maximillian-- Alfred Ladislaus, Leopold Sydney...
- Ensemble: [speaking in unison] Sydney?
- Lionel: SYDNEY!
- Lionel: Don't worry, Your Majesties, he'll meet someone tonight. I can feel it in my bones.
- Queen Constantina: You'll feel it in your bones if he doesn't.
- [hits Lionel while he's standing on the ladder]
- Lionel: [screams as he falls off the ladder]
- Stepmother: [singing] Falling in love with love is falling for make-believe/Falling in love with love is playing the fool/Caring too much is such a juvenile fancy/Learning to trust is just for children in school/I fell in love with love one night when the moon was full/I was unwise with eyes unable to see/I fell in love with love with love everlasting/And love fell out with me!
- Cinderella: Why? Why is this so hard for you to imagine?
- Stepmother: Because you're common, Cinderella. Your mother was common and so are you. Only you can wash your face and put on a clean dress, but underneath, you'll still be common. But a prince would even consider taking you for his bride? Why, it's laughable!
- Cinderella: My father.
- Stepmother: Your father was weak. He spoiled you rotten, he filled your head with silly thoughts and dreams that'll never come true. Never. Now, clean this place up. It's a sty.
- Lionel: [singing] The prince is giving a ball. His Royal Highness Christopher Rupert son of Her Majesty Queen Constantina, Charlotte Ermintrude, Gwinyvere Maisie.
- Stepmother: Maisie?
- Lionel: [spoken, then sung] Maisie. Marguerite Anne is giving a ball.
- Queen Constantina: Chris you've been up all night. Come have something to eat.
- The Prince: I can't. I can't eat or rest until I've found her again.
- Cinderella: [singing] Am I making believe I see in you a man too perfect to be really true? Do I want you because you're wonderful? Or are you wonderful because I want you?
- Stepmother: My girls are going to be the envy of everyone at the ball.
- Stepmother: Don't cling to the past, Cinderella. It's not very attractive.
- Cinderella: [watching the dance scene] The prince is giving a ball.
- Cinderella: Go to the ball? Me? Why would I want to go to the ball? I'd much rather sit here by the fire.
- Cinderella: [after Fairy Godmother turns the pumpkin into a carriage] Oh my goodness.
- Cinderella: But shouldn't a man love you for who you are, in spite of everything?
- Stepmother: How quaint. Tell me, Cinderella, what would you say to capture the prince?
- Cinderella: I don't know. But whatever I'd say, we'd know in an instant we were meant for each other. Then he'd smile, and kiss my hand.
- Minerva: That's so romantic.
- Calliope: Oh, say it again, Cinderella.
- Stepmother: Rubbish! This isn't about love, it's about marriage.
- Queen Constantina: [chanting at first, then chanting] His Royal Highness, Christoper Rupert, Windimir Vladimir, Carl Alexander, Francois Reginald, Lancelot Herman.
- Lionel: Herman?
- Queen Constantina: [spoken, then chanted] Herman. Gregory James--he'll thank us for it later--is giving a ball!
- Fairy Godmother: [first lines; singing] Impossible, for a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage/Impossible for a plain country pumpkin and a prince to join in marriage.
- [spoken]
- Fairy Godmother: A slipper made of glass is just a shoe and dreamers never make the dream come true.
- [singing again]
- Fairy Godmother: Impossible.
- Minerva: [yelling across the ballroom as the Prince dances with another woman] I WANT A CHANCE AT HIM!
- Stepmother: [seeing the glass slipper fitting on Cinderella's foot perfectly, then groaning as she pretends to faint] Nooo-o-o!
- Lionel: Quiet, woman!
