Script began as a play, "Blackout", which ran Off-Broadway in 1990.
The film cast includes three Oscar winners: Sam Rockwell, Dianne Wiest and Faye Dunaway; and one Oscar nominee: Howard E. Rollins Jr..
Richard Lewis was very proud of this movie, surrounded by such a cast. Being a regular on the Howard Stern show, and with their niche to constantly make fun of each other, Richard came on about three times, promoting this movie, and Howard would tease him about being in a low-budget film, at one point asking if he were paid in dollars or canned hams. Howard was also confused that the movie both premiered on cable and theaters at the same time. Which is pretty common nowadays.
