As we write this, four superhero movies have been officially announced and dated for 2027. Those are Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Man of Tomorrow, The Batman Part II, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
That's going to be a stacked second half of the year!
While it's admittedly still very early, we probably know equally as much about each of these future blockbusters. With that in mind, now seems as good a time as any to rank 2027's Marvel and DC offerings from least to most anticipated.

It feels like every time we talk about Batman lately it’s about the movies that aren’t here yet — Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II is still a ways off, James Gunn’s The Brave and the Bold hasn’t even rolled cameras, and fans have been wondering when the Dark Knight will actually return to screens in a real way, but the truth is you won’t have to wait much longer because a brand-new animated Batman film is right around the corner.

Liverpool, England, has been transformed into the Dcu's Gotham City for Clayface, and we now have a map showing what this version of Bruce Wayne's home looks like.
There are lots of familiar locations, including the Narrows, Cherry Hill, and Crime Alley. Why the latter has been included on what appears to be a tourist map is hard to say, though it at least warns people to keep away from the area by making them aware of where it is!

Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. leads the cast of “Above the Break,” the feature directorial debut from Chase Korzep, alongside Reggie Lee, Sidhartha Mallya and Gabriel Bateman.
Production is currently underway on location in Pass-a-Grille, near St. Petersburg, Florida, with filming set to wrap in Redondo Beach, California. The project is described as an adrenaline-fueled shark thriller and emotional coming-of-age drama, set against the backdrop of a sun-soaked surf town under siege. It aims to provide a blend of heart, horror, and heroism as a grieving family, a fractured community, and an unrelenting predator collide just beneath the surface.
Gooding Jr., who won the academy award for best supporting actor for “Jerry Maguire,” brings his dramatic gravitas to the thriller alongside Lee, known for his roles in “Tropic Thunder” and “Grimm.” The cast also features Mallya and Bateman.

Jensen Ackles joins the DC Universe for The Brave and the Bold as Batman through art. As The Batman universe with Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves' Elseworlds property remains separate from DC Studios' continuity, the franchise has yet to cast its new Dark Knight in James Gunn's superhero reboot.

James Gunn's DC Universe franchise finally confirms the Joker in DC Studios' new superhero reboot through the Clayface movie. The Dcu timeline is working hard on its reboot for the Dark Knight, as The Brave and the Bold movie is still in development, but that is just the start.
The other Batman-related film tied to the Dcu that is currently filming is the Clayface movie, which will bring one of Bruce Wayne's most powerful enemies to life on the big screen. This will also mark the first R-rated movie for DC Studios within the main continuity, with James Watkins directing.

DC Studios announced an exciting slate of movies and TV shows at the start of 2023, but "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" hasn't taken shape anywhere as quickly as fans—and probably James Gunn and Peter Safran—would've liked.
The Authority is a movie that Gunn has already acknowledged has issues, and he discussed those struggles with The New Blerd Order after being asked about a possible Static Shock movie.

DC Studios unveiled the "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate at the start of 2023, and it wasn't dissimilar from Warner Bros. announcing the ill-fated Dceu lineup in 2014.
That largely revolved around the Justice League's characters. James Gunn and Peter Safran, meanwhile, have taken a more eclectic approach, with a combination of heavy-hitters like Superman and Batman, along with Supergirl, Swamp Thing, and the Creature Commandos.
While a Wonder Woman movie has since been announced, the Dark Knight remains stuck in limbo. The Batman Part II is gearing up to begin production, but that's an Elseworlds title, and clearly won't be set in the Dcu. According to Gunn, The Brave...

The Batman director Matt Reeves recently announced that he had finally finished the script for his long-awaited sequel, which he penned alongside co-writer Mattson Tomlin.
The news came in the midst of concerns that the movie, which does appear to be officially titled The Batman - Part II for the time being, may have been cancelled or been hit with another significant delay, with speculation continuing to mount that DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran might be planning to either introduce a brand-new take on The Dark Knight in The Brave and The Bold, or fold Robert Pattinson's BatVerse take on the iconic hero into the Dcu.

There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding DC Studios' plans for Batman. The Brave and the Bold was announced at the start of 2023, but hasn't taken shape since then, and now appears to be less of a priority than the recently announced Wonder Woman movie.
The intention is to tell the story of Bruce Wayne learning he has a son, Damian, whom he then trains as Robin. It's a simple story on the surface, but one DC Studios is struggling to figure out; surely not helping matters is that Matt Reeves' highly anticipated The Batman sequel is on track for a 2027 release.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) opened in February 2020. While it underperformed from the start, Covid-19 meant we never got to see what the Suicide Squad spin-off was truly capable of at the box office.
The movie received positive reviews (it's "Certified Fresh" at 79% on Rotten Tomatoes), and pitted Harley Quinn against an extremely sinister villain in Ewan McGregor's Black Mask. However, it turns out that she was originally going to face Ozwald Cobblepot, a.k.a. The Penguin.

In a perfect world, the 2013 animated movie, Superman: Unbound, would be the perfect successor to James Gunn‘s Dcu debut feature. The film has all the qualities and story elements suited to follow up Clark Kent’s story from his early rise in Metropolis and fight against Lex Luthor and his clone, Ultraman.
Unbound is upbeat, optimistic, full of hope for the future, has a deep-rooted connection to Kryton throughout the movie’s arc rather than keeping it as a one-and-done forgotten backstory, and above all, boasts a villain formidable enough to single-handedly capture and beat Superman.
If that alone does not make it a spiritual successor to the Dcu Superman, then what else qualifies?

Following the release of James Gunn's Superman, fans have been eager for updates on DC's upcoming Batman reboot and the sequel to Matt Reeves' The Batman. In the main Dcu timeline, the Caped Crusader will appear in The Brave and the Bold, which is based on Grant Morrison's comic book run. With anticipation building, Gunn has shut down several rumors that could mislead or disappoint fans.
Over on Threads, Gunn replied to a few fans when it came to their Batman questions. One user asked if casting had already begun for The Brave and the Bold, to which Gunn simply replied with "Nope." This makes sense considering DC Studios is working on Supergirl. Later, a fan asked if the Batman villain, Hush, would appear in The Batman: Part II. Not only did Gunn immediately shut down that rumor, but he also told them that the rumor in question...

The Brave and The Bold casting process gets a new update from James Gunn following new DC Universe rumors. One of the most highly anticipated projects from the Dcu's Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" is DC Studios' Batman reboot, which will bring the Dark Knight into Gunn's massive superhero franchise.
Set to focus on Bruce Wayne discovering the existence of his biological son, Damian Wayne, The Brave and The Bold has been in development since DC Studios' original announcement in January 2023. The biggest question surrounding The Brave and The Bold is the Batman casting process, as fans are actively waiting to see who will suit up as the Caped Crusader.
With casting rumors constantly flying around online, a fan recently checked with Gunn on Threads if it was true that they are already casting the Dcu's Batman in the franchise. However, Gunn gave a very clear response to what is...

Even though The Dark Knighttrilogy began two decades ago, it still contains three of the best comic book films in history. Its middle chapter, The Dark Knight, is often in conversation with some of the best films of all time. That has a lot to do with Christopher Nolan's genius, but it also has to do with Christian Bale's Batmanand Heath Ledger’s Joker. Now the pair of cinematic arch-rivals can battle it out with new figures from Mezco Toyz.
A part of Mezco's One:12 Collective scale series, these premium figures show Bale’s Batman and Ledger’s Clown Prince of Crime in all their glory. Shown off at San Diego Comic-Con last month, Batman is seen in his second updated costume for the trilogy designed by Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman). Joker, on the other hand, is seen in his muted purple suit from the sequel. These Dark Knight...

DC is in the good graces of moviegoers again thanks to James Gunn's Superman. The film starring David Corenswet has restored faith in the brand. Not too dissimilar to howTim Burton’s Batman changed the course of that brooding character and company as a whole for decades to come. Now, as DC breathes fresh life into the superhero genre, Burton’s Batman returns with new figures from Mezco Toyz.
A part of Mezco's 5 Points nostalgic series, Wave 2 of Batman (1989) collection includes three figures: Cape Glide Batman, Museum Mayhem Joker, and a Joker Goon. The latter of which is two figures in one. Batman's figure is based on the opening scene, while The Joker takes inspiration from the middle of the movie, during which The Dark Knight has to save Vickie Vale from The Clown Prince of Crime at the museum. These debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and are scaled at 3.75 inches tall.

James Gunn shares an update on whether Robert Pattinson's Batman will be integrated into the DC Universe. As DC Studios works on a new movie for Batman set in Gunn's Dcu timeline, Matt Reeves' The Batman universe is also ongoing and set under the separate Elseworlds banner. Pattinson will reprise the role in The Batman 2, which will begin filming at the end of 2025.
However, some DC audience members have made it clear that they want to see Pattinson's take on The Dark Knight join the Dcu rather than exist outside of it. While Gunn has commented on casting Batman for the Dcu with a separate actor, many are still holding out hope for Pattinson's Bruce Wayne to join DC Studios' main continuity.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gunn was asked if there had been any consideration toward bringing Pattinson's Batman into the Dcu alongside David Corenswet's Superman.

As 'Superman' Soars in Theaters, Some of DC's Most Underrated Heroes Shine in a New Super Powers Set
James Gunn's Superman featured a ton of great and relatively unknown DC superheroes – at least where mainstream moviegoers were concerned. These heroes included Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Guy Gardner's Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion). However, this debut Dcu film was just the tip of the iceberg for what will hopefully be a whole world full of colorful Justice League members. Now, as Superman continues to be a major success at the box office, McFarlane Toys has debuted their next wave of DC Comics figures.
A part of McFarlane's nostalgic Super Powers line, there are four new 4.5-inch-tall figures for DC fans to clamor over. This includes Animal Man, Cyborg, Deadman, and Nightwing all in their classic comic looks. They join a long lineup of Super Powers figures that have featured heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, alongside villains like Lobo, The Riddler and Sinestro. McFarlane...

On Thursday, The Batman director Matt Reeves revealed that he had finally finished the script for his long-awaited sequel, which he penned alongside co-writer Mattson Tomlin.
The announcement came in the midst of speculation that the movie, which does appear to be officially titled The Batman - Part II for the time being, may have been cancelled, with DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran planning to either introduce a brand-new take on The Dark Knight in The Brave and The Bold, or fold Robert Pattinson's BatVerse take on the iconic hero into the Dcu.
Gunn remains adamant that the plan is still to forge ahead with another actor for the Dcu's Caped Crusader, but we are clearly going to see at least one more instalment in Reeves' "Epic Crime Saga" as well.
Reeves may have handed in the script, but Gunn still hasn't had a chance to read it.

Jake Paul returns to the boxing ring to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a 10-round cruiserweight bout on Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California (Dazn PPV).
Paul is riding a five-fight winning streak since losing a split decision to Tommy Fury in February 2023. Paul defeated former heavyweight king Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in November.
Chavez is a former Wbc middleweight world champion. He won the title with a majority decision win against Sebastian Zbik in June 2011, and made three successful defenses. Chavez will be fighting at cruiserweight for the third consecutive fight.

It's now been over two years since DC Studios announced its "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" Dcu slate. The likes of The Authority, Waller, and Booster Gold have since stalled, and we're currently no closer to learning who will play Batman in The Brave and the Bold.
The Dark Knight made a shadowy cameo appearance in Creature Commandos, but work on his team-up with Robin isn't progressing as quickly as many fans would like. DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has admitted to having a hard time figuring out the character, something likely not helped by Matt Reeves' (admittedly long-delayed) plans for The Batman Part II.
Now that Reeves' script is finally finished, chances are Gunn will have an easier time figuring out how to differentiate the Dcu's Batman from the one portrayed by Robert Pattinson. However, he might need to find a writer for it first.

Robert Pattinson will be back in the Batsuit after all. It looks like the script for The Batman 2 is finally done. Matt Reeves, who directed and co-wrote the first film, just posted a photo on X that’s getting a lot of attention.
In the picture, he’s sitting next to screenwriter Mattson Tomlin, and between them is what fans believe is the finished script for the sequel. Reeves didn’t say much, but the post itself was enough to get DC fans excited.
Via X
The photo seems to confirm that progress is being made on the next chapter of this darker, moodier Batman universe. Since the first movie came out in 2022, fans have been waiting for an update.

James Gunn’s upcoming revamped version of the Dcu has to get its hands on its own Batman. As shocking as that line is, it’s only true because all those comments and fan art of Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight standing side-by-side with David Corenswet’s Man of Steel won’t be materializing – not anytime soon, but never at all.
This is because, as it turns out, this new DC Universe is aiming to have a Caped Crusader of its own to carry forward the legacy of Bruce Wayne instead of just letting Pattinson continue his game. This being recently confirmed by Peter Safran himself, now the speculation around who could be the next Batman couldn’t be louder.

Despite all the comments and fan art of Robert Pattinson's Batman standing side-by-side with David Corenswet's Superman, DC Studios is standing firm in its decision to keep the world that Matt Reeves is building separate from the Dcu.
In a new interview with Omelete, DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran explained that Matt Reeves' Batman falls under the studios' purview as an Elseworlds tale, however they'll be a different actor under the Dark Knight's cowl in The Brave and The Bold.
“I think we've been very clear about Batman. We love Matt Reeves, and we're dying to do Batman: Part II. Like I said, we're always going to do some projects that are primarily auteur-driven. Those are projects that we call Elseworlds,” he explained to the Brazilian entertainment site, as he also referenced the Joker films directed by Todd Phillips, which are not part of the new Superman universe.

Original plans called for The Flash to end with Michael Keaton's Batman officially part of the Dceu. He'd have gone on to appear in Batgirl and Batman Beyond, eventually meeting Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader in Crisis on Infinite Earths.
DC Studios scrapped Warner Bros.' plans and will introduce a new Batman in Andy Muschietti's The Brave and the Bold. That movie is expected to feature Bruce Wayne training his son, Damian, as Robin, adapting elements from Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's critically acclaimed Batman and Robin.
The Brave and the Bold appears to be going nowhere fast, and based on comments from DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn, the Caped Crusader is still a long way from being cast in the Dcu.

Long before they faced off in one of Hollywood’s most public courtroom battles, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s relationship was already showing serious cracks.
One major source of tension was none other than James Franco. In 2014, while filming The Adderall Diaries, Heard said Depp’s jealousy over her working with Franco spiraled into explosive arguments. She claimed things reached a disturbing low during a private flight, where Depp allegedly shouted at her, threw things, and even physically lashed out.
Depp, however, firmly denied ever hitting Heard and said she was the one fueling their fights. He also said she once called Franco “creepy,” which made it even harder for him to understand why she worked with him again. Here is what he said in detail!

If resilience had a pulse and wore kohl eyeliner, it would beat like Johnny Depp’s heart post-trial. The actor doesn’t flinch. Not when the world raised its torches, not when headlines sank their teeth in, and certainly not when asked whether he’d have done anything differently.
Recently speaking to The Sunday Times, Depp unpacks the trial that turned his personal life into a global theater. He refers to himself, dryly, as a “crash test dummy for #MeToo,” not in jest, but as an indictment of how easily narratives take precedence over nuance. Years later, the storm has passed…at least on paper. And the Pirates of the Caribbean actor? Still standing, still sharp, still Johnny Depp.

The Batman Part II's potential cancellation remains a topic of great interest among fans. The movie remains scheduled for release in 2027; however, as rumours swirl on social media that filmmaker Matt Reeves is dealing with potentially serious personal issues, it's only making the speculation more fervent.
DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has repeatedly confirmed that he's yet to receive a script from Reeves. However, he also continues to assure fans that he and Peter Safran are eagerly awaiting it and remain committed to making the sequel a reality.
Still, even Robert Pattinson has joked about how old his Bruce Wayne will be by the time The Batman Part II happens. It's also no secret that Gunn has his own plans for the Caped Crusader, starting with The Brave and the Bold, or perhaps even a World's Finest team-up project that he will write and direct.

It’s suggested that the Gunn-produced The Brave and the Bold will be set within the Dcu while Matt Reeves’s sequel to The Batman will exist as a DC Elseworlds story
There was a time when having two Batmen in your cinematic universe would have felt like a clerical error. But in James Gunn’s brave and bold new Dcu, having several Bruce Waynes is increasingly looking less like an irritating glitch and more like a deliberate choice.
Gunn has been clear for some time that he sees no issue with two Caped Crusaders striding into multiplexes at the same time. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is down to the fact that Matt Reeves’s The Batman – an insular, noirish, Kurt Cobain-obsessed but relatively real-world take on the Dark Knight – proved pretty popular with audiences just prior to Gunn being handed the keys to the DC kingdom.
