Avis à la une
In this action-filled drama, Sunny Deol plays Karan, a hired gun for the local crime lord. When planning to beat up Kajal's father, he sees her and instantly falls in love with her. Kajal ( Karisma Kapoor) hates Karan at first, but gradually falls in love with him as well. Her father, not knowing her secret, arranges a marriage for KajAL with Raju (Salman Khan), a family friend. When Raju crosses the same crime lord, Karan is hired to kill Raju and the unexpected happens.
This film is engrossing, sometimes moving, and always entertaining. It is quite violent, not atypical for Bollywood, and contains some impressive musical numbers. Deol is fantastic in his role, and is especially chilling as a killer. Khan was a bit over-the-top in his interpretation of Raju, but was as charming as ever. Kapoor played her emotional scenes spectacularly well.
Overall, this is an excellent film and well worth watching for Bollywood fans.

One can definitely expect nothing but loudness and trash from a movie that stars Sunny Deol, Karishma Kapoor and Salman Khan in the leads. More so if it's directed by Raj Kanwar where one can additionally expect retarded film-making. 'Jeet' is pretty much a retarded remake of 'Muqaddar ka Sikander' (which itself was a mind-numbingly boring movie). This one just has much more dishum dishum, loudness and epileptic seizures than its source. Kajal (Karishma Kapoor) is an amateur dancer who witnesses the beating of a weakling at a market. The beating was carried out by a fat dirty goon (Sunny Deol) who probably never took a shower in his life. A CC (corrupt cop) happily arrests the goon who is later released upon bail by a beautiful harlot (Tabu). The harlot happens to be in love with the goon (only God knows why as there is nothing even remotely appealing about him) but anyway. The goon harasses Kajal and her dad but when Kajal utters some bullcrap he backs off and begins stalking her. She is freaked out but once the goon rescues her from other goons, Kajal is turned on and they fall in love. Goon promises to become ex-goon and just when they decide to get married, a rich idiot (Salman Khab) re-enters Kajal's life and proposes. Kajal's pathetic father obliges her to marry the idiot. Kajal howls and throws tantrums but eventually agrees. The ex-goon is furious and he roars like a bear (he's does that many times in the movie). Kajal moves to Switzerland with her idiot husband and ex-goon becomes a goon again. But when the married couple return to India, Kajal is haunted by the goon.
As bad as it is, the fast forward option on your remote control comes very handy. I liked the song 'Dil Ka Kya Kare' that was visualized on the beautiful Tabu. She dances very well. The rest of the songs are bad and quite clichéd with the same melodramatic lyrics. Salman and Karishma dance like epileptic cows who got stung on the ass by a swarm of bees. Kapoor also does a couple of shake-the-fart-off moves, especially when dancing with Deol. Sunny dances like a hippopotamus. The acting is expectedly abysmal except for Amrish Puri who plays the villain with a T and Tabu who is good enough except in the final scene. I can see why Juhi Chawla turned down the role of Kajal.
Except for Tabu's item number and her beauty, I didn't find anything appealing about this silly film. In my books 'Jeet' is a loser.

I'd like to start off by praising the production team, and specifically the director, Raj Kanwar, for doing a great job here. I didn't expect a film like this to come under the Nadiadwala Grandson banner; I was pleasantly surprised.
One of Sunny Deol's career best performances. He is as convincing as ever in his role. I'm very surprised that he didn't win some awards for this. This is one of Karishma Kapoor's best performances; she does a great job in the female lead. Salman Khan is good too, as is Tabu. Alok Nath is OK, and Amrish Puri does a good job as he always does when he plays the role of the villain.
I would also like to say that the screenplay is great and it has been edited very well.
The music is nothing special. There's only one good song: 'dil ka kya karen sahib'.
Verdict: It is not often you get to see Salman and Sunny in an action movie. It is a must watch. I give it 9.5/10

This is one of the major films that made me love Sunny deol. Jeet excels in all fronts from cinematography, background score, performances and great dialogues. The overall music is mediocre at best except the beautiful solo picturized on Tabu and the first duet of Sunny and Karisma (My most favourite).
Sunny deol is the undisputed star of this magnus opus. His emotional scenes, his screams, his powerful action and melodrama. He is simply pure MAGIC!! Hats off to this brilliant jat. I was surprised he didn't get a Best Actor nomination at the Filmfare that year for Jeet, though he did get for Ghatak. It should have been Best Actor Nomination for Ghatak/Jeet. This was an unforgettable from him.
Salman Khan is a surprise package. Although his entry into the fore is sometimes annoying and overtop (especially some of his funny scenes with Karisma)...But then towards the climax, he simply explodes in the melodramatic and serious scenes giving a delightful performance coupled with his irresistible charm that rightly earned him the filmfare nomination of Best Actor in a supporting role.
Karisma is okay. Her scenes with Sunny and then later Salman are brilliant and equally convincing, although she overacts in some parts as usual and hams. But then her beauty is golden as always.
The rest of the cast are okay and don't forget Tabu in a memorable performance as a courtesan.
A brilliant extravaganza all in all. Watch it for Sunny deol, Salman Khan and Raj kanwar's exceptional direction. Paisa vasool
