As a Brit, I've always been fascinated by the huge array of regional dialects packed into a relatively small space on our islands. Every country has different accents, of course, but it's remarkable how an accent can change so dramatically in the U.K. over such short distances. Just listen to the difference between Scouse and Manc with only 35 miles separating Liverpool and Manchester. All our radically different accents provide fuel for endless banter, and everyone has their favorites and least favorites. Personally, I can listen to people from Newcastle, Yorkshire, and Wales talk all day, but I'm not a big fan of Essex (partly due to local rivalry as a Tractor Boy from Suffolk) and the Birmingham accent, or Brummie.
Which brings us to "Peaky Blinders," the hugely popular BBC crime drama set in Birmingham in the early 20th century. That location makes the show something of an anomaly for British TV,...

We're all still reeling from that new episode of Severance, right? Well, thankfully, we're not alone in that, as the series' star, Adam Scott, was also taken aback and blown away by the — major spoiler alert here, folks! — reveal of what Gemma (Dichen Lachman), Outie Mark's wife (aka Miss Casey to the Innies) has been up to this whole time. And, as it turned out, it was all much weirder and more horrible than any of us could have ever imagined. Which was a real gut punch in juxtaposition to the other, pre-Lumon life insights we got into the couple before they ended up here.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scott was effusive about all that came together in the series' seventh episode, titled "Chikhai Bardo." The name of the episode, a reference to the fourth stage of dying — a part of the journey through the liminal space between death and rebirth,...

The NCIS season 21 finale had massive repercussions for the Major Case Response Team and their season 22 story. In the NCIS season 21 finale, the team is investigating the discovery of three bodies on a decommissioned Navy ship that's scheduled to be sunk. When NCIS Supervisory Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) and Special Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) get locked inside the ship, it sets the course for NCIS season 22.
Jess is processing the job offer from NCIS Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) and how her potential role as React Chief will affect her relationship with Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen). She and Parker get locked inside the ship's engine room, and as Parker is losing blood after a metal support pillar falls on his leg, conversations between Parker and Knight seemingly set up major shifts in the NCISverse. Quick Links Tommy Lee Jones Was Co-Leading Bigger Studio Films The Late '90s Were Tommy Lee Jones' Heyday
Starting as a scene-stealing supporting actor in the 1970s, Tommy Lee Jones has been an asset to the film industry for a long time now. And, when 1980's Coal Miner's Daughter was released, it became clear that the gruff southerner had what it took to be a leading man. Yet, most of his movies throughout the '80s failed to truly take off, whether he was playing someone kindhearted or nefarious, as seen in the underrated Stormy Monday (1988).
Equally adept at playing heroes and villains, Jones started to really see his profile expand throughout the '90s. For instance, his role in the ensemble piece JFK was one of the film's most notable, and he even managed to steal a Steven Seagal movie in 1992 with Under Siege. In other words, he wasn't leading those films,...

Since Love Is Blind premiered, the hit reality TV show has developed a devoted fan following that cares a lot. Fans want to know things like what happened to the first season's cast, why Izzy Zapata's life became a nightmare, and about Giannina Gibelli becoming a mother. Unfortunately for many of those same fans, they have also learned about Netflix ruining its reality shows like Love Is Blind.
Amazingly enough, however, most Love Is Blind fans have no idea about one of the most outrageous facts about the show. As it turns out, Love Is Blind's producers once tried to get $4 million from one of the show's cast members.

VFX artists criticize the special effects in Oppenheimer, saying the explosion looks like a typical gasoline fireball, not a real atomic bomb. Christopher Nolan's decision to use practical effects instead of CGI posed challenges in depicting a nuclear explosion realistically. The lack of CGI in Oppenheimer prevented the movie from accurately representing the Trinity test and the destructive scale of a real nuclear explosion.
Some VFX artists aren't entirely impressed by the special effects in Oppenheimer. Christopher Nolan's latest movie is a bibliographical drama that follows J. Robert Oppenheimer as he helps to develop the world's first nuclear bomb. During the Trinity test, he launches the first bomb, and the resulting explosion is accompanied by complete silence. Nolan elected to rely on practical effects to depict the explosion.
Featuring a nuclear explosion without CGI would always be a challenge, but some VFX artists don't think that Nolan did a particularly effective job.

Netflix's new game show, The Trust: A Game of Greed, combines reality TV and competition in a unique and engaging way. The show's premise involves 11 contestants voting to eliminate someone in each episode, with the remaining money split among the remaining cast members. The show focuses on the contestants' personalities and alliances rather than traditional game show dynamics, creating tension and drama throughout the series.
Game shows, and reality TV has become a streaming staple, given their low production value and the use of ordinary people as stars. This has long been the case for Netflix, as they have showcased such absurdities as Is it Cake? and The Floor is Lava, alongside more in-depth competition game shows like Blown Away and The Devil's Plan. Though they may not be the most watched shows on Netflix, these series have proved to be a great success for the platform, with many of them having multiple seasons,...

You've seen Santa Claus stand as the epitome of seasonal goodwill in movies like "Miracle on 34th Street" and "The Christmas Chronicles." You've even seen Santa as a foul-mouthed drunk with "Bad Santa." But have you seen him stuff a grenade down someone's pants and watch him go kaboom? Well, it appears you're in luck, as director Tommy Wirkola's "Violent Night" sees David Harbour don the big red suit to take out a group of mercenaries holding a family hostage on Christmas Eve. Could you truly ask for anything more?
When it comes to Christmas movies that take a darker, bloodier path with the ultimate gift giver, there's no shortage of them. Genre flicks like "Santa's Slay," "Christmas Evil," and "Silent Night, Deadly Night" show Santa as a bloodthirsty maniac on a mission. Harbour's interpretation, however, does so not out of a homicidal urge to rack up a body count,...

Glass-blowing competition series “Blown Away” returns to Netflix July 22, with new artists, judges and challenges. The series, produced by Toronto’s Marblemedia, found fans on Netflix during the pandemic. The premise is simple: a group of glass-blowing artists come together in an enormous studio, or hot shop in glass-blowing parlance, and create glass art for specific challenges. Much like a glass art version of ‘Project Runway” or “Top Chef,” the drama comes from the time constraints and challenges, and also from the fact that these artists are molding fragile glass and working with temperatures that soar between 1600 and 2000 degrees Fahrenheit.
So how did Matt Hornburg, “Blown Away” executive producer and co-ceo of series producer Marblemedia, and Donna Luke, co-executive producer and Marblemedia senior VP of business operations come up with this concept? “We’ve been in business now for 21 years. And we’ve had a lot of success in the game competition space,...

There's no doubt that Carrie Underwood has been one of the most successful American Idols of all time, but just what is Carrie Underwood's net worth? The superstar country singer has carved out a very lucrative space for herself in the nearly 15 years since she won her Idol title. According to InStyle, Carrie's net worth hit $55 million in 2018, and has only been climbing since then!
As you probably suspect, the majority of Carrie's impressive net worth has come from her music career over the years. When her sixth album, Cry Pretty, came out in 2018, Billboard reported that she had just hit an important milestone: she became the first woman to bring four country albums to the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. Her previous chart-toppers contributing to that record were Blown Away (2012), Play On (2009) and Carnival Ride (2007). Nude scenes.
Some years ago, Entertainment Weekly did a story about the effect nude scenes had on a generation of young people growing up in the 80s. At its core was the idea that, unlike today, where you can just press a button and see boobs and butts any time you want, it used to be a lot harder to see that most 'holy of holies'.
There was a time when some of the scenes on this list were all that we had! As time has gone on, even with the proliferation of ways to see nudity, a really good nude scene still manages to get our hearts (and other things) racing. Even here in 2013.
So feast your eyes on (maybe not the best, or greatest but...) the Top 30 Most Memorable Nude Scenes in motion picture history over the past couple of decades. Sorry ladies, this list is quite male specific.

Just because Corey Haim is dead doesn’t mean that we can ignore the vast empire of barely-mediocre films he left behind. In fact, if I re-titled this column "Cory Haim, Huh?" I could probably ride high for a few months (no pun intended) before even getting to Dream A Little Dream 2.
Blown Away (1992) stars Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, and Nicole Eggert, three signs that your movie will only get a theatrical release in South Korea. None of them are likeable. The Coreys are college kids who work at a ski resort. Obviously filmed on the off-season, the ski resort consists of nice, lush green grass with patches of snow added by CGI. I wish I was kidding. The Coreys get mixed up with super skinny 17-year-old Eggert who wants them to kill her father. I’ll let you guess the ending, since I didn’t really understand it...

I have always cherished Lucas more than any John Hughes film dealing with the high school caste system. For me it falls just below Heathers in that regard, which is fitting since both featured Winona Ryder. But like in the choir scene from Lucas, nobody's looking at Ryder today. We're all looking at the film's star, Corey Haim.
Anyone who had interests outside the norm of high school students, anyone who ever wanted to fit in at least at some point as a teenager, anyone who ever had a crush on an older, inaccessible schoolmate had to have appreciated Lucas. As has been pointed out a few places today, it was a more genuine precursor to Rushmore, which comparatively lacks charm.
If Lucas wasn't your bag, though, you at least had to have thoughts of Haim in License to Drive when it was your time to be introduced to the frightening world of the Dmv.

Corey Haim, arguably the 1980's equivalent of Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, passed away at 38, apparently of a drug overdose, a tragedy that appears to have been accidental, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Though Haim fell on hard times both personally and professionally, Haim and fellow actor Corey Feldman -- collectively referred to as the "Two Coreys" -- once ruled the film world and were teen heartthrobs of the highest order. Haim, who hailed from Canada, arrived on the scene with the drama Firstborn (1984), starring opposite Peter Weller and Teri Garr, gained additional traction with Silver Bullet (1985) and Murphy's Romance (1985), and completely won over audiences with his heartbreaking, utterly natural turn as the lovable loser title character in Lucas (1986), with Charlie Sheen. But it was the handsome young actor's collaborations with Feldman that transformed him into a major star: The Lost Boys (1987), License to Drive (1988), and Dream a Little Dream...

First, the Twitterverse came out in full force. Then Corey Feldman followed suit. It didn't take long for the rest of Hollywood to follow, with Corey Haim's former costars adding their own statements of remembrance to the tributes that have already poured in. Vivica A. Fox, Nicole Eggert and Todd Bridges are among the latest celebs to react to Haim's death. Here's what they had to say: • Vivica A. Fox, Shark City costar: "We will miss this wonderfully talented young man, it was a pleasure to have worked with him, may God bless his family at this most difficult time." • Nicole Eggert, Blown Away costar and ex-girlfriend: "I am very saddened at the news of...

I am, and always will be a fan of the two Corey’s, so to hear of Corey Haim’s passing earlier today came as something of a shock. Whilst I have already posted a quick tribute this morning, I’ve had time to think about the situtation and can think of nothing better than celebrating Corey Haim’s body of work, and perhaps highlighting some of his films that you may never have seen.
So in honour of one of my favourite actors I present the Top Ten Movies of Corey Haim:
1) Dream a Little Dream
Whilst this bodyswap film (of sorts) did excellent business in the Us, spawning a Top 10 hit song, Dream a Little Dream didn’t set the UK alight. I didn’t discover the film until 1992 when I first rented it at my local video shop, in fact once I did rent the tape...

Corey Haim Dead At 38
Canadian actor Corey Haim has died in California after allegedly suffering a drug overdose.
The 38-year-old star reportedly collapsed at his home in Oakwood in the early hours of Wednesday morning and his distraught mother called emergency services. He was taken to St Joseph's hospital in Burbank, where he was pronounced dead.
Sergeant Frank Albarren, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, tells MSNBC.com, "It was an apparent overdose. Unknown what type of medication."
Haim had reportedly been sick in the days before his death, suffering flu-like symptoms, according to TMZ.com.
The actor had a history of drug problems and had spoken candidly of his longrunning battle with substance abuse.
Born in Ontario, Canada, Haim broke into acting in the 1980s on Canadian TV show The Edison Twins, before making his film debut opposite Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. in 1984's Firstborn.
He appeared opposite Point Break actor Gary Busey as a paraplegic boy in the big screen version of Stephen King's Silver Bullet, before shooting to international stardom as the lead in 1986's Lucas - alongside Charlie Sheen and Winona Ryder.
Haim went on to film eight hit movies with his child star namesake Corey Feldman, including The Lost Boys, License to Drive, Watchers and Dream A Little Dream, leading the actors to be dubbed 'The Two Coreys'.
Haim was awarded two Young Artist Awards during the 1980s - Exceptional Young Actor in TV show A Time to Live in 1985, and Best Young Actor in 1989, which he shared with Feldman for their parts in License to Drive.
But as rumours of a serious drug problem began to surface in the 1990s, his career took a dip with a string of straight-to-video movies including Blown Away and National Lampoon's Last Resort.
In 1993, he was charged for pulling out a fake handgun during a bust-up with his business manager. The charges were later reduced from felony to misdemeanour.
In 1996 he was sued for $375,000 (£250,000) after pulling out of film Paradise Bar because of his drug problem, which he had reportedly failed to mention on his insurance form. With his financial problems spiralling out of control, Haim filed for bankruptcy in 1997.
The actor reportedly checked himself into rehab 15 times in a bid to battle his drug demons, and in 2001 was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, California after reportedly suffering a drug-induced stroke.
But in 2004 he moved back to his native Toronto and appeared to have overcome his problems.
In recent years, Haim attempted to resurrect his career, filming reality show The Two Coreys with Feldman in 2007, and in 2008 he shot minor scenes for Lost Boys: The Tribe, reprising his 1987 role.
The two actors' screen reunion was short-lived - Feldman, who has also struggled with drug problems, reportedly refused to continue working and communicating with Haim until he beat his addiction.
At the time of his death, Haim had signed up to appear in a number of productions, which were slated for release later this year, including The Science of Cool opposite Mischa Barton, The Throwaways alongside pop star-turned-actor Luke Goss, and action thriller The Dead Sea.
Haim was briefly engaged to Nicole Eggert, Holly Fields, and Cindi Guyer, and has previously dated Victoria Beckham and Alyssa Milano, but it is unknown if he was in a relationship at the time of his death.

Early Wednesday morning (March 10), actor Corey Haim was pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, California, as a result of an apparent drug overdose. He was 38 years old.
Without making light of the tragedy, in a lot of ways his death mirrored the last three decades of popular culture. His meteoric rise to fame, his struggles with substance abuse that led to his downfall, his newfound sobriety that sparked an attempted comeback (which was, of course, captured for a reality TV show), and finally, the sad events of Wednesday morning are symbolic of the era. He lived his life both in and out of the spotlight, dealt with the pressures of fame,...

The story of the two Coreys — Feldman and Haim, the latter of whom died at the age of 38 on Wednesday (March 10) — goes back a long way. Much farther than their canceled A&E reality series, "The Two Coreys," might have you believe.
The same-aged actors first met during their teen years when they were auditioning for what turned out to be notable early roles. Both read for "The Goonies" and "Lucas," with Feldman landing the former role and Haim the latter. But it wasn't until 1987 that the duo came together for Joel Schumacher's teen-vampire classic, "The Lost Boys."
"We just clicked, chemistry for ourselves," Haim said in a 2007 interview with Larry King, whose show he appeared on with Feldman in support of their reality series.

Haim and Feldman Reunite for Comedy Show
Former teen heart-throbs Corey Feldman and Corey Haim are teaming up to star in a comedy series based on fictional versions of themselves. The Coreys picks up with Feldman living the comfortable suburban life with his wife Suzie and their son, until circumstances bring his old pal Haim back into the picture. Episodes would follow Haim - who is single and the total opposite of Feldman - as he shakes life up for his more conservative namesake. RFD USA vice president Greg Goldman said because Feldman and Haim have been friends on and off screen for several years, the chemistry between the two "just pops off the screen." He explains, "Everyone feels like they know the Coreys." Feldman and Haim met on the set of The Lost Boys and appeared in several movies together, including License To Drive, Dream A Little Dream and Blown Away.
