Mannequin: On the Move

Although not very well received at the box office or by critics, Mannequin Two has, in my opinion, outdone its predecessor, 1987's Mannequin. Its only connection to the original, with the obvious exception of the mannequin storyline, is the hilarious Meschach Taylor, who reprises his role as outrageous sidekick Hollywood Montrose. The story, with its time-travelling characters and medeival sorcery, does require a bit of imagination - it's definitely not realistic fiction, which is what I think possibly destroyed it when it was released. In and of itself it is a sweet and humorous story about a love that transcends the ages, and it would be unfair to compare it to the dull original. William Ragsdale makes the perfect prince, and Kristy Swanson fits quite nicely into the beautiful, innocent peasant girl role. It is a film to be enjoyed by all ages, and whether you're looking for adventure, comedy, or romance, Mannequin Two:On the Move will surely deliver.

The movie is an excellent comedy with the usual simple laughs you come to expect. Kristy Swanson is ok, but the original Kim Cattrall was much funnier. Besides the obvious reasons, Kim Cattrall is also a much better actress, and I think she does well in just about every movie she plays in. This film is a 3.5 of 4 and the original is a perfect 4 in its category. -Peter "When you're smart people need you"

I found this film a thrill to watch. I never intended to watch it but one day it was on and I decided to give it a go. I have not seen the original and I had not even heard of it. But when I got in to this story I found very entertaining. The characters are wonderful. Kristy Swanson is beautiful as the mannequin. Hollywood is hilarious. I also like the lead character as a lot of people, maybe myself can relate to him. After Watching it I rate it as my favourite Romantic Comedy. It is one that the whole family can enjoy. I would highly recommend it as a film worth watching.

Even though this is a pretty badly made movie, it's something that I just enjoyed when I was a kid. I think because I was in my princess and "damsel in distress" phase.

Watching this movie now, it is pretty ridicules. I mean, the whole history back flash in the beginning, now I know this is a movie and it is supposed to be fairy tale like, but the peasant girl having a beautiful dress and cape with perfect hair and make up? Just didn't make sense. The knights were complete wusses when in real life they were trained to take a sword through a gut and continue in battle.

And the acting, yes it's pretty bad. But again, this was just something that I enjoyed as a kid. For the kids, just let them have fun with it. But as a movie for adults in a serious train of mind, just ignore it.

Sure, its not up to the original and on a cerebral scale it wouldn't even register a reading - but so what? I cannot fathom however, why, with the number of quite acceptable reviews it has pulled here, the flick is locked-in to a voting poll of just 2.8 ?? Queen of the B-Graders Kristy Swanson does an acceptable job as the mannequin - she never CLAIMED to be Vivian Leigh! Whatever else she may be, she's uniquely wholesome and appealing and in a little flick like this she's all you need. William Ragsdale is another mega clean-cut youngster (He's 42 now, can u believe?) who in his just nine movies has never to my knowledge uttered a single profanity! No matter he has been immortalised as Charlie Brewster in the two FRIGHT NIGHT movies both of which just get better with time!

Terry Kiser, the long suffering deceased Bernie in the two WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S movies turns up in another offbeat little characterisation as the sorcerer.

Hell, leave the flick alone - my kids love it!
