Avis à la une
While this movie is not a classic, nor is it even on my top 50 martial arts films of all times, comparing it to Kung Pow seems ridiculous. It is a Hong Kong style martial arts film, with strong doses of mystical Buddah- like powers thrown in. I do not recommend it to any except hard-core martial arts fans. It is good for laughs, and as with almost any Cynthia Rothrock film, you are sure to see a lot of high energy, well executed action sequences. If you really liked this film, rent "Tiger Claws 3". But really want to see a kung fu film that is not silly, watch "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" or "Legend of the Drunken Master" Note that a lot of martial arts films titles are purposely similar, so do not mistake these films for "Tiger Claws 1 or 2" or "Drunken Master"
I have seen virtually all of Cynthia Rothrock's films, and to me this is the funniest. It reminds me of early Jackie Chan movies. Admittedly, Ms Rothrock may not be the greatest actress, but she is very good to watch as both a martial artist and as a very cute young lady. This film, while probably not the best of all her films, was the most entertaining.
Found reference to this movie on YouTube and just had to check it out, so glad I did too.
So yeah, this movie has some similar aspects to the Golden Child and I am a fan of that movie, but I think this beats it in both comedy and action.
If you like great kung fu action with old school Hong Kong/Chinese movie comedy, then this is the movie for you. Please don't miss out on this gem of a movie.
I love these types of movies, so for me it's an easy 7.5/10
I had this movie waiting since a long time to watch, im a fan of Cynthia Rothrock, saw most of her American work, and got this out of nowhere. Took me time to finally decide to give it a go, as im not a fan of Chinese traditional stuff, i mean i love IP MAN, love SOME Chinese stuff, but the whole flying and traditional style they use usually is too much for me(crouching dragon...). Yet in this, the characters flies? LOL YEAH COOL cause this is hilarious, its probably the equivalent of NAKED GUN in term of kung fu parody. Cynthia even tough she is the most well known is mostly a supporting character, and its good like that, cause the choreography she do are outstanding, but its the comical aspect of the main 3 actors that make this an outstanding movie.
This is actually what Kung Fu Hustle tried to be,ridiculously funny, over the top, a mix of comedy and martial arts, but kung fu hustle failed miserably, but this worked so good. At the same time i laugh a lot to the jokes and the comic aspect, yet being hook by the main story.
I had SUPER LOW EXPECTATION for this, and now i think its one of my favourite Rothrock movies !!! LOL Im so glad i gave it a go. I recommend watching this either very hight or drunk tough, it will really make the movie hilarious.

Prince of the Sun has to be one of the funniest films I've seen in a while. From the horrendous special effects, to the horribly done attempts at comedy ("I'm invisible, you can't see me!"), to how everyone has a quaint grasp of the Queen's English despite never quite matching the mouth movements...it's silly, and it's a pity MST3K never got a hold of this thing.
I can't rate it a one. Oh no. It's too entertaining for that. But don't expect it to win any awards, unless they have "Raspberry" somewhere in the title. Prince of the Sun is so bad, it gives a whole new meaning to trash cinema - so rent it if you can!

- AnecdotesDuring production, the filmmakers spent so much time creating comedy scenarios for Conan Lee and Sheila Chan that they almost completely forgot about Cynthia Rothrock, who spent much of her time sitting around the set. Upon realizing that Rothrock was due to leave the country within a few days, the filmmakers completely shifted the production to filming scenes for her, including several action scenes.
