La légende d'Hawkeye

This show had very good historical content and was excellently written and performed by a great cast, Lee Horsley and the lovely Linda Carter with a wonderful supporting cast of characters. It showed good family and American values and I really enjoyed watching it. It reflected the integrity, moral values, and self respect our forefathers held and I was sad when it was not continued. It only ran one season, but, the characters were well developed by the end of that season and it was a show that could be enjoyed by everyone. The show was great as it was and I would love to see the show come out on DVD for I would surely LOVE to watch it again.

My wife purchased this series on DVD recently for our bed-time 'belly-telly' viewing. We've enjoyed it immensely - only to discover there was only 1 season's worth. What a great disappointment. It was one of the best-done series ever. Great cast, good stories, well told! Lee Horsley and Lynda Carter had good chemistry - as well as the rest of the acting crew. Rodney Grant as Chingachgook was a delightful surprise, as well as Garwin Sanford (stiff upper-lip Capt. Taylor Shields). Maybe the viewing-time was off-center, or the timing of such a series was competing against, yet another, TV falderal. Still, it was a really wonderful series. I watched the show regularly when it was initially syndicated. It wasn't sold very well and the expectations for it apparently weren't high as in this area it was on Saturday afternoons when there wasn't a college game to televise. Maybe they thought the show would be targeted for young children but it really wasn't. The leads were very good and Lynda Carter proved to be beautiful to look at even all covered up 1700s style clothing. If you like this time period and have a chance to catch one of these episodes you should check it out. Each episode was a stand alone but like anything else if you could see it play out over a few episodes you get a better feel for the characters. I was very disappointed when it was canceled, I thought with this entertaining of a show it would find an audience but it probably was buried and not promoted in other markets as well as the local one here. Too bad.

Outstanding show,Stephen J Cannell producer,excellent story telling,good moral principles.Also had a great cast Lee Horsley,Linda Carter,Rodney A Grant, Garwin Stanford .This show must of had virtually no promotion.Just a shame there where not more seasons.

We looked forward to this show when it was originally broadcast. Well written, tremendous cast led by Horsley and Carter, and the cinematography was outstanding. The mixture of history, literature, humor, and memorable characters were much better than many series on TV today. We've mentioned the show to quite a few people, who never saw it, which perhaps explains why it was canceled. I remember that it was on at different times, probably syndicated, which made it hard to find. I particularly remember recommending it because it was good family fare. We were very disappointed when it was canceled. We'll keep looking for it as a DVD release.
