A sequel, tentatively titled "Freddie Goes To Washington", was already in the works long before this film was released. Because this film did so badly at the box-office, the sequel was shelved indefinitely.
The film began life in the early 1970s, when writer and director Jon Acevski made up bedtime stories about a secret agent frog for his young son.
This was the lowest-grossing U.S. release animated movie of all time until The Ten Commandments (2007) and Delgo (2008) broke that record.
Two different cuts of the movie exist: the original British release, 'Freddie as F.R.O.7', which runs for 90 minutes, and 'Freddie The Frog', the American recut version that only runs for 71 minutes. 'Freddie The Frog' removes several key moments, cuts the original opening where Freddie drives around London, and places all scenes in order of continuity instead of having flashbacks. The American version also adds James Earl Jones as the film's narrator.
