Snow White

Modifier
  • Evil Queen: [singing in Asian accent] If you have lovely hair, you may want a comb in there. Painted bright, mother-of-pearl, just the thing for a lovely girl.
  • Magic Mirror Head: What do you want?
  • Snow White as a child: I'm Snow White.
  • Magic Mirror Head: I know who you are. I see all.
  • Snow White as a child: Oh.
  • Magic Mirror Head: What do you want?
  • Snow White as a child: I just wanted to look.
  • Magic Mirror Head: Well, then... look!
  • Prince: I shall spend the rest of my life in mourning for her.
  • Iddy: Years past, the king had been told that Snow White had been eaten by wild animals. He was so grief-stricken that he gave up his kingdom and died in battle far far away. But Snow White was safe in the woods with us where she grew up in our cottage. And as for the queen...
  • Snow White: Good day. Where did you come from?
  • Evil Queen: [in her Geisha disguise] Far far away. I've been traveling for so long. Oh. May I rest here for a while?
  • Snow White: Yes. Yes, of course.
  • Evil Queen: [she sits down] Oh. What lovely hair you have. You must wear comb in such lovely hair.
  • Snow White: Thank you. But I have no comb.
  • Evil Queen: But I have beautiful comb. May I show you one?
  • [Snow White nods. The evil Queen is trying to find the best comb. She picks out a comb]
  • Evil Queen: Oh yeah.
  • Snow White: Oh, it shimmers so.
  • Evil Queen: Let me in and I will show it to you.
  • Snow White: But I don't know you and I mustn't let anyone in.
  • Evil Queen: Then open the door a crack and I will pass it to you.
  • Snow White: Just a crack.
  • [she closes door window and cracks the door open]
  • Evil Queen: So.
  • Snow White: Oh, it's beautiful. But I have no one to comb my hair.
  • Evil Queen: You must let me comb it for you for once. For good.
  • Snow White: Oh, would you? Could you? But I can't. I'm not allowed to let anyone in.
  • Evil Queen: Then I should just stand here. Now turn around.
  • Snow White: Yes. Just for once.
  • [opens door a little wider]
  • Snow White: As long as I don't let anyone in.
  • [seeing the poisoned comb in a mirror]
  • Snow White: I've seen that comb somewhere before!
  • Evil Queen: [as she shoves the comb into Snow White's hair, which sends her into a deep sleep] But you'll *never* see it again!
  • [cackles]
  • Evil Queen: [disguised as an old lady] Will you buy my apples today?
  • Snow White: No, thank you.
  • Evil Queen: They're the best in the season. Sweet and juicy.
  • Snow White: I can't; I'm not supposed to let anyone into the house.
  • Evil Queen: Then come to the window, and I will show 'em to you.
  • [Snow White opens the window doors seeing an old lady]
  • Prince: [to Snow White] Arise, my beloved, and be my queen.
  • Evil Queen: A-ha! The Poison Cookbook!
  • Evil Queen: This time I'll take care of her myself!
  • Iddy: It was the queen!
  • Snow White: But she looked nothing like the last time.
  • Evil Queen: [disguised as an farmer's wife] Good day, kind child.
  • Snow White: Hello.
  • Evil Queen: Oh... it's been a terrible season on the farm this year. But there's one very special tree that's grown the best apples I've ever seen.
  • Snow White: It looks so strange.
  • Evil Queen: That's because it's a special tree. Why don't you buy this one?
  • Snow White: N-no, I mustn't. The dwarfs'll be cross.
  • Evil Queen: Oh, we wouldn't want to make the dwarfs cross, would we? Here then, take it as a gift.
  • Snow White: You're so kind. It's such a nice-looking apple... But I shouldn't.
  • Evil Queen: You're not afraid that I'm going to poison you, are you?
  • [chuckles briefly]
  • Evil Queen: Here, I'll cut it in half...
  • [cuts apple in half]
  • Evil Queen: and I'll take the white half, and *you* take the red half.
  • [whispering]
  • Evil Queen: It's the most delicious and the sweetest.
  • [Snow White was about to take the red half when she realizes it may be poisoned]
  • Snow White: No. I prefer the white.
  • Evil Queen: Oh, as you wish.
  • [hands the white half to Snow White. She takes the half and to her disgust sees a worm. Hands it back to the farmer's wife]
  • Evil Queen: Ohhh, that's just a naughty little meal worm.
  • [hands red half to Snow White again]
  • Evil Queen: Here.
  • [She bites the white half of the apple]
  • Evil Queen: Mmm. That's delicious!
  • Snow White: [She bites the red half] Why, it *is* delicious!
  • [and just like that, she falls to the floor in a deep sleep, gagging as she does so]
  • Evil Queen: [back to her true self] See if the dwarfs can save you *now*.
  • [laughs evilly as she hurries away]
  • Evil Queen: [disguised as a merchant] Wares for sale. Fancy things to make you pretty.
  • [Snow White opens the door]
  • Evil Queen: How pretty you are.
  • Snow White: Thank you, good woman. What are you selling?
  • Evil Queen: Pretty things. Lovely things. Laces of silk in many colors.
  • [waves the ribbons around]
  • Evil Queen: Oh! What a lovely dress. I have just the bodice for you.
  • [shows bodice]
  • Snow White: Oh, it's beautiful.
  • Evil Queen: Mmm. Wouldn't you like to try it on?
  • Snow White: Yes, please.
  • Evil Queen: Then let me in and I shall lace you up. Won't you look lovely laced up in this bodice?
  • [puts bodice on Snow White]
  • Evil Queen: Won't she look lovely, Peabold?
  • [Peabold squawks]
  • Snow White: [as the evil queen laces the bodice as tight on Snow White] Oh, it is lovely. But it's a little tight.
  • Evil Queen: Mmm, the better to show off your *fi-gure*.
  • Snow White: But I can't breathe.
  • [she loses her breath and collapses to the floor in sleep]
  • Evil Queen: [back to her normal self; to Peabold at first, then to the sleeping Snow White] She couldn't resist my bodice. Now we'll see who's the fairest.
  • Prince: Strange. I don't remember this part of the wood. Let me see the map.
  • [the guard hands the Prince the map. The prince looks at it]
  • Prince: I don't see this place on the map.
  • Prince's Guard: You are right, sire. It is not marked.
  • Prince: So close to home and we've made a discovery.
  • [hands back the map to the guard]
  • Prince: Watch over the camp. Make sure the tents are set before nightfall. I'm going to scout this forest.
  • Prince's Guard: Your Highness, be careful. These woods are full of surprises. Bewitched men may be lurking about.
  • Snow White as a child: [seeing a Rabbit hopping by] Quick! Where are your best arrows?
  • Hunter: Oh, I'm looking for smaller game here. My hunting knife will do the job.
  • Snow White as a child: Hunter.
  • Hunter: It's the Queen's command.
  • [attempts to stab Snow White with a knife]
  • Snow White as a child: No!
  • [the hunter gets distracted with the noise as Snow White takes her cloak off and runs. The hunter follows]
  • Snow White as a child: No, hunter!
  • Hunter: I must.
  • Snow White as a child: I'll run away into the forest and I'll never come back.
  • [they both turn as they hear a goat]
  • Hunter: The goat will provide me with a liver. Beware of the forest, it is full of wild beasts. Go!
  • Snow White as a child: [Snow White runs deep into the forest] Farewell, hunter.
  • [repeated line]
  • Evil Queen: Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of us all?
  • Snow White: [stirring from sleep after the dwarfs cut away her bodice] I've had the most horrible dream. What's this?
  • [gasps]
  • Snow White: No, it wasn't!
  • Iddy: Tell us what happened.
  • Snow White: A kind woman came, selling pretty things, and I tried on this bodice.
  • Iddy: That wasn't a kind woman.
  • Fiddy: That was the evil *queen*.
  • Diddy: And she has found you out.
  • Snow White: But she looked nothing like the queen.
  • Iddy: It was a disguise.
  • Fiddy: And she'll be back.
  • Snow White: What will I do?
  • Iddy: Don't be afraid. We will be here to protect you. But if we're *not* here...
  • Giddy: You mustn't let anyone in.
  • Liddy: No one.
  • Snow White: No, I won't, I promise. Thank you, you've all been so kind. I've baked your favorite cake.
  • Giddy: Let's eat.
  • Snow White: [interrupting] For dessert.
  • Evil Queen: [in the bathtub as the ladies in waiting are pouring oils and waters into the bathtub] Attar of roses. Tincture of sandalwood. Chamomile. Oil of jasmine. Milk.
  • [a lady in waiting pours milk onto the Queen's face]
  • Iddy: [to the prince] So we made a glass coffin for Snow White. There she lay for a full year, watched over by a wise owl, a crafty raven, and a dove of love.
  • [Leaves started to fall and snow was blowing]
  • Iddy: Until you discovered her, she has been here. And there she rests, unchanged. She must be under a spell.
  • Snow White: [singing] Maybe there's a castle where/some nice prince has room to spare/we'd make a large but very lovely pair/and I could even stand up straight out there
