The best show to show love between grown ups and kids.

I enjoyed watching the show because it hit home with the message of love for your neighbor and country. That is something the country need right now. It is obvious, the show was a couple of decades ahead of its time. The actors and actresses were great too.The actress I really enjoyed was Barbara Meek. This actress seem to draw your attention by her smile. Jake drew your attention by showing a fatherly concern for the kids. The show explained to the audience how orphans go through situations of loneliness. Jake and Babara exemplified how we are to handle problematic kids. Now, that is really needed today. I think this show or its episodes should be aired again. Today, we need shows like this one to steer kids in the right direction again by assuring that there are people who really care.

Time has caught up with the show...so let's air it again and watch TV ratings sky rocket.

A sitcom that has been buried for some time... I can see why.

Well, it's been a while since I saw "Big Brother Jake" for the last time... I think it was back in 1997. All I remember is that it aired on a bad cable channel that would air mediocre sit-coms from the early 90's.

Anyways, this show lacked of a spirit and personality. There were clichèd characters and situations that were not funny at all but somehow this show managed to entertain in a negative way. I mean, I used to make fun of the horrible, atrocious acting specially by the young black girl and some other kids. Then, Jake would solve EVERY situation with a moral message. Heck, some jokes and situations/messages were very 80's. Not to mention Jake's haircut and clothes.

The jokes were very dated and were dedicated for a very young audience. I still can't understand why I watched this show but surely, I wouldn't give it a try in these days.

Avoid it at all costs. This is mediocrity.

A good show from the early 90s

The show aired on The Family Channel (Now ABC Family) which was then a part of CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) and was filmed in Virginia Beach, VA. The show revolved around Jake, a former Hollywood stuntman, who returned to his foster home to help his foster mother raise the current bunch of kids in the house after the death of her husband.

I remember watching this show in the early 90s. It was an excellent family comedy. I would love to see them again to see if the comedy held with the time.

The show was safe for the whole family and an enjoyable way to spend a half hour.

    Sing along with Steinfeld

The episode where Loomis goes away to college (series finale? -- it has that feel) is pretty amazing... it's a musical. It's hard to think of something more disturbing than Jake Steinfeld singing earnestly to Josiah Trager. By far the best episode (of Jake) I ever saw, and I'm proud to say I saw a lot (it came on after Degrassi Junior High, another classic show -- definitely one of my favorite back-to-back hours of TV of all time, though they were on different channels). Anyhow, it's hard to explain why I loved watching this show so much. It had bad acting, unlikable characters, a cliche premise... hey, I guess it wasn't so hard to explain why I liked it after all.

Jake Rozzner: [intro series] Brooklyn: my dad had left in the '50s, I left in the '80s. The difference is... I came back. See, I grew up in a foster home here, which isn't as bad as it sounds. I got a pretty great childhood out of it. Now there's a new group of kids in the old house, and I want them to have as much fun as I did. You know that line that says: "you can't home go home again"? I don't buy it.
