This movie is about a fictitious attempt to assassinate Mikhail Gorbachev by hard-liners. Two years later, in 1991, there was an actual attempted coup over Gorbachev by hard-liners: that also failed.
The trailer of the articulated waggon that Clancy drives is marked 'GAROCAMION' - but three letters before that are blanked-out. The original name, HUNGAROCAMION, would give away the filming location.
