One of Bollywood's classics from the apt hands of Subhash Ghai, 'Ram Lakhan' tells the tale of two brothers Ram and Lakhan. Typical to its masala-based Bollywood style entertainment this movie has it all - romance, action, revenge, emotional quotient, music (a major plus point for Ghai for roping in seasoned Laxmikant Pyarelal duo) and the very vital entertainment factor that worked so well back then and still does.

Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor give extremely competent performances cast opposite Dimple Kapadia and Madhuri Dixit respectively. Rakhee Gulzar plays the mother who waits eagerly to avenge her husband's unjust death. A complete family entertainer, 'Ram Lakhan' is a Subhash Ghai classic.

A must watch.

Ram Lakhan is what is known as wholesome entertainment - a Hindi film that has it all - a nice story, charismatic stars, pretty ladies, heroes and villains, and very nice songs. I'm sure for many lovers of Hindi films, this one holds great nostalgic value. Ram Lakhan is not just enjoyable, it's actually a good film which is well acted and directed. Subhash Ghai sure knows how to pull off a great show, and this is exactly what Ram Lakhan ends up being. Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor, a dynamic duo who have proved time and again their great rapport on-screen do really well. While Shroff is the serious leading man and does his job with style, Kapoor is fantastic in an all-out comic part, showing great flair for comedy and being totally unafraid to make a little fun of himself. His "My Name is Lakhan" track is very memorable. The same is true of Anupam Kher, who is hilarious. Dimple Kapadia and Madhuri Dixit do not have much to do but they are gorgeous and fit well in the blanks. The film's villain is the legendary Amrish Puri, but the hero here is actually Raakhee, who leads the film with a great role which she did so well that she sadly wound up typecast in countless parts which are a variation of this one. The film's music is good and my favourite is "Tera Naam Liya". Watch Ram Lakhan, it's fun.

whatever happened to the legend who gave us masterpieces like Karz, Hero, Vidhataa??, even Raam Lakhan, Meri Jung, Karma, Sadaagar was quality fare, his decline started with Pardes, got worse with Taal & he became downright mediocre with Yaadein, a total insult to anyones intelligence, to make matters worse, he came up with Kisna after this, lets not even go there.

anyways, back to Raam Lakhan, this was a lot of fun, i remember as teenager, we began worshiping anil after this & tezaab, every boy in school had a fringe just like him. he was phenomenal as lakhan. Jackie was passable as his brother & anupam hilarious. Madhur became everyones fantasy after this.Sigh...the good old days.

Ram Lakhan is a masala action film directed by Subhash Ghai. The film stars an ensemble cast of Raakhee, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Madhuri Dixit, Late Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover, Late Saeed Jaffrey, Raza Murad, Annu Kapoor and Satish Kaushik.

Ram an honest police officer and Lakhan a vagabond who joins police department to earn black money vengeance against the killers of their father.

This is what you called a typical masala film, the film is filled with some of the memorable songs, rib tickling comedy, great action and some of the iconic dialogues.

The film with a very predictable revenge drama storyline is been executed very nicely by one of the greatest showman Subhash Ghai.

Acting is superb and Rakhee was very meticulous in her character of a revenge hungry widow mother, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor were so perfect in their character that it seems that the roles were tailor made for them, Late Amrish Puri was a synonym in that era when it's comes to play a negative role and was amazing, Gulshan Grover, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor and Satish Kaushik all bunch of talent were also impactful, Dimple Kapadia and Madhuri Dixit looked beautiful and were impressive in their limited screen space.

Screenplay is good and the comic and humor in between will not let you bore despite the length of the film, the editing could've been little more refined. Music by the legends Late Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma were chartbusters and were a rage upon it's release particularly 'My name is Lakhan', 'Tera Naam Liya' and 'Mere do anmol ratan'.

A must watch entertaining masala film which will give a nostalgic feeling to every Hindi film lover.
