"Wsciekly" (Furious) is a separate feature film somewhat reminiscent of the popular in the 1970s and 1980s TV series "07 zglos sie" (07 answer me). The film was based on a story by Jerzy R. Milicz, which was loosely based on the history of murders committed in Poland in the years 1946-1957. The film director Roman Zaluski is one of those people who managed to make propaganda-free movies through the years of the Polish People's Republic. I watched "Furious" with pleasure, especially since the main character, Cpt. Bogdan Zawada, was made a symphatetic and credible person by the good acting of the main actor, Bronislaw Cieslak. Zawada was only a little involved in the shootings and fights-it was solid detective work instead. The plot was transported to the 1970s, and the crime drama enriched with psychological elements. The plot is also interesting: in several Polish cities, there are murders of innocent people. All of them are murdered with a shot from a small-caliber rifle. The case is extremely difficult because there are no motives for the crimes, and apart from the murder weapon, nothing connects the victims of the murderer. So we have here all the elements of a solid crime drama: an exciting plot, good acting with psychological elements, and a realistic picture of the 1970s. The parts of the wife and daughter of Cpt. Zawada were played by the real wife and daughter of the main actor, Bronislaw Cieslak. It was also a pleasure to watch some supporting actors like Ignacy Machowski, Barbara Brylska and Zbigniew Buczkowski. I think that for today's viewer, "Furious" might be good entertainment, combined with some glimpse into the life of 1970s Poland.
