Michael Jackson loved this movie. He made contact with its child star Anton Glanzelius, and took him to an amusement park in Sweden to get to know him. Glanzelius also got to visit Michael in America.

Ing-Marie Carlsson, who plays Berit, revealed that Lasse Hallström made it clear right away that there would be nude scenes. "Then I thought 'no, I don't want that'. But then I read the script and really liked my character Berit. She is cheerful and warm. During a walk with Lasse on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, I explained that I wanted to be a ray of hope in Ingemar's encounter with the adult world," she said.
