HITCHCOCK PRESENTS (1985-1989) was an awesome anthology series derived from various episodic short stories. It an 80's reboot and is nearly as good as the original, offering up new spins of the older stories. The series is a mixture of many different genres and has a little in it for everyone. Mystery, Drama, Crime, and Horror, these stories are all very original and compelling. Keep you guessing and wondering and throroughly entertained.
"Series of unrelated short stories covering elements of crime, horror, drama, and comedy about people of different backgrounds committing murders, suicides, thefts, and other sorts of crime caused by certain motivations, perceived or not."
There aren't many great anthology series today that have the magic that this one had. This one is a classic and feature quality and highly memorable stories, casting, and writers. "Hitchcock Presents" along with "The Twilight Zone" are among the best anthology series out there. A great series for the collection!

I never watched the original Alfred Hitchcock Presents, but the 80s reboot is more than a worthy homage. I hope another reboot is on the cards (in a way Black Mirror and Inside No. 9 follow the Hitchcockian tradition) that could be hosted by acclaimed British actor Danny Dyer.
Of course there are many stories, inspired, if not entirely inspired by the same short novels written by the likes of Henry Sleasar and many more, stories which we can find in the old TV show. same topics then. But not all of them. The main difference between this new series and the old one is that here, you have so many twists, double, triple twists at each endings, more than in the old series, where you had only one.
I think the rebooted 1980s version of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" is best for anyone who has never seen the original. This is because at least half of the 'new' shows are just remakes...and in many cases, the original versions are just a lot better...mostly because they are more subtle and better directed. I consider this an incredibly lazy show...and is just the sort of show I hate because it lacks originality. Now I am not saying don't ever watch the show...but you also might want to check first to see if the episode you're planning on seeing is a remake. And, if so, skip it and see something original.
This is one of my all-time favorite shows. I remember looking forward to watching each and every episode. I grew up watching both this one and the original and, to me, this show is just as good as the original. There are so many great twists and turns that will truly keep you in suspense. I wish the 80s version was shown more on television or at least released on DVD, so it can be introduced to a whole new generation. It's truly an underrated gem that doesn't get the recognition it so richly deserves. So if you love/like the original, I think it will be worth your while to give this 80s version a try. A real classic.
