Pyar Jhukta Nahin

I have always been a big fan of Mithun movies in the 80s and I've never seen this film till yesterday. Fantastic movie with superb performances. The storyline is almost similar to 1996 Super Hit film Raja Hindustani. Raja hindustani copies this film a lot. Mithun delivers a amazing fantastic performance and is among one of his best performances as an actor. I never found Padmini to be a good actress but after watching this movie she did a terrific job. Danny plays her father in this movie and yet does a fine job. This is a lovely romantic film with a lot of emotions and good music. This is a fine movie that i highly recommend.

One of the few Super hit films of Mithun Chakraborty in a non-action role and that too without dancing to any disco track; Pyar Jhukta Nahin was an out and out romantic drama initially offered to Rishi Kapoor but went to Mithunda after the former rejected it. Padmini Kolhapuri was the heroine and its success led to Mithun-Padmini becoming a hit pair.

Not many know that the film was not finding distributors as Mithunda was playing a romantic lead here completely opposite to his dancing action hero image. But producer KC Bokadia had total faith in his product and decided to distribute the film himself and ended up reaping all profits himself.

Mithunda and Padmini played the typical poor guy - rich girl lovers who marry against the wishes of Padmini's parents Danny (formidable as ever) and Bindu. Post marriage, differences crop up between the two premis mostly fuelled by Danny which leads to their separation. Meanwhile, Padmini is pregnant and Danny wants her to abort the child...

The screenplay was fast paced peppered with melodious numbers specially "Tumse milkar na jaane kyun.." which is still memorable. Mithun and Padmini shared an amazing chemistry together and that was one of the main reasons for the film clicking in such a big way with the audience that it celebrated a 75 weeks run in theatres all over India. Main theatre in Mumbai was Novelty cinema.

Pyar Jhukta Nahin may sound dated today but for '80s kids like me, there is enough nostalgic value to give it a try again.

One of the best Family drama and evergreen romantic love story. It's true "Pyaar Jhukta Nahin"

You must have seen a romantic movie which had the basic issue that rich girl marrying a poor boy. However in 1985 it was a new topic. The movie was a Super-hit. Especially Laxmikant Pyarelal's enchanting soundtrack made it more successful as it was a musical hit too.

Padmini is a rich girl who falls in love with a middle class photographer Mithun. Her parents initially disagree for the marriage but the daughter manages to make them ready for the marriage. Padmini's father Danny Dengzongpa makes Mithun a top class photographer and his salary gets an increment. Later Mithun discovers that Danny has made his promotion and this has hurt his self-respect. Padmini and Mithun separate. The next half of the movie is fresh which you may not have seen in new movies. So you must watch out to find what happens next?

I would rate this movie as 9.5/10. Lyrics by S.H. Bihari was fine with one song being blasphemous at the end. Music is excellent. All the songs are completely in Laxmikant Pyarelal's style. Lata Mangeshkar's voice for Padmini Kolhapure suits very well. Shabbir Kumar did justice to his vocals and to our ears too.

K.C.Bokadia waits for two years to release that film because no one wants to buy that film.The reason is simple, Mithun is the hero of the film but in the film there is no dance number, there is no action!A Mithun film without dance and action is not digestible to Distributors.Eventually K.C.Bokadia himself released the film and a Sixty Lakh film earns Nine Corore and registered on of the biggest hit in 1985.Mithun breaks the ice and a hero of front stall becomes the hero of intellectuals.Mithun becomes the first Bengali Superstar of Bollywood.Now the story , a complete frame to frame copy of Pakistani film Aaina.Eventually story based on love between poor and rich and ultimately love wins the battle.Performence wise Padmini Kolapuri bags the top with her excellent performance as Mithun's love interest. Danny as a rich father of Padmini is terrific.Music by Laxmikant Pyarelal is fantastic.'Tum se milkar na Jana kiyo' in three versions in the film was evergreen.Now the Mithun Chakraborty without any Disco, without any action makes the film hit.His image breaking perfomence in this him made him the very next to whom? None other than Amitabh Bachchan.
