The Midwest Premiere of the hit Paramount film, Mahogany, took place on Friday, October 17, 1975, in Chicago at the Chicago theatre (State and Randolph). An ad reads: "Mahogany Overnight it became a sensation . . . in one week it became an event! The lines are there all night on Broadway . . . "
Tracy is a black girl with no financial resources who struggles to be able to afford fashion college. Her goal is to become an internationally famous fashion designer.
