Maria (Célia Olga) and her husband, the tiller José (Caçador Guerreiro), live in the countryside with their children Maria and João. When she meets a talkative salesman, he convinces her to travel with him to São Paulo. They have a car accident and Maria walks alone to the big city. Without documents, she is arrested by the police and a social assistant presents Maria to the industrialist Braga (Benjamin Cattan). Maria changes her name to Lilian and becomes his mistress; in return, Braga gives an apartment to her. Braga's son, the unstable dancer Fausto (Washington Lasmar), loathes Lilian in principle; but later they become friends. Fausto is interned in a mental institution and when he dies, Lilian leaves Braga and works in a massage house where she meets the German entrepreneur Hans Hartmann ( Edward Freund). She becomes her lover and sooner she meets the crook real state agent Vivaldo Lobo (Wilson Ribeiro) that lures her and the incompetent private eyes Shell Scorpio (José Júlio Spiewak). Then she moves to the house of a criminal that has tuberculosis. When he dies, she works in the brothel of a madam, where she meets the middle class official Sílvio Gonçalves (Sérgio Hingst). He invites Lilian to live with him in his house in the periphery of São Paulo with his weird sister Lucivalda (Maracy Mello). Lilian feels bored with the repressed and when she is raped by a mechanic, she returns to her family in the countryside.
"Lilian M – Relatório Confidencial" is a Brazilian cult-movie written and directed by Carlos Reichenbach. The amoral story of confessions of a countrywoman that sexually liberates from her family and lives with different men in São Paulo is tacky, but never corny. Maria, or Lilian, only reports her adventures but the film does not judge her character or seeks redemption. This film was censored by the military dictatorship in the 70's, but was recently restored and projected in the opening of the 43th Festival de Brasilia 2010. My vote is six.
