Four made-for-tv Planet of the Apes movies from 1980 are now streaming online, the first time they have been available for viewing since a DVD set was released nearly two decades ago. The four films are actually compilations of episodes from the 1974 CBS Planet of the Apes live-action series. The four films are currently streaming for free on YouTube's Movie Channel.
Some fans of the original 1968 Planet of the Apes film are not even aware that the CBS series or TV films even existed. In September 1974, CBS premiered the series, which was based in the same timeline as the 1968 film starring Charlton Heston. Roddy McDowell was the lone cast member from the original Apes films to return for the series. However, he played a completely new character, Galen, a chimp who helps two astronauts (Ron Harper and James Naughton) who have traveled from the past and crash-landed on their home planet a thousand years later.

Quick Links Cornelius In the Classic Planet of the Apes Series The Newest Planet of the Apes Trilogy Reintroduced Caesar's Son, Cornelius Cornelius' Potential Future in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Will The New Planet Of The Apes Trilogy Introduce Caesar's True Descendants?
The following contains spoilers for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, in theaters now.
Within the Planet of the Apes franchise, various timelines and continuities differ greatly from each other. At the same time, several recurring elements and characters appear in these different universes, even if they're handled in drastically divergent ways. One example is Cornelius, who fans of the recent reboot trilogy will recognize as heir to the proverbial throne.
Cornelius was the son of the apes' veritable messiah in this continuity: a chimpanzee named Caesar. This was similar to how he was handled in the original continuity for the movies, though it also differs greatly.

The latest Planet of the Apes installment has a new release date.
Per The Direct, Disney released its upcoming theatrical release schedule which has seen a number of titles get shuffled amid the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes. Interestingly, however, one title that remains on schedule is the Apes reboot sequel titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. In the report, Apes will maintain its original release date of May 24, 2024.

War for the Planet of the Apes just released a brand new trailer, and man is it a doozy. It seems like quite the fitting capper to what may very well be one of the strongest trilogies out there. No joke.
The new Planet of the Apes trilogy that started with Rise of the Planet of the Apes and continued with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has exceeded expectations in every way imaginable. When it was first announced that an Apes prequel would be made, it seemed like little more than a cash grab on the part of the studio. We've spent a decent amount of time here talking about how Hollywood is always looking for some previous franchise to capitalize on, and this seemed like no exception. They'll take any move that'll increase a general audience's likelihood of getting their butts to the theaters.

Horror Channel have announced their latest rund of UK television premieres for October, including three outstanding supernatural thrillers: Under The Bed, Steven C. Millar’s nightmare of all nightmares, The Gathering, starring Christina Ricci, and the haunting Lovely Molly (my personal fave of the three), from Blair Witch co-director Eduardo Sánchez.
Friday 3rd - The Gathering
Directed by Brian Gilbert (Wilde), this supernatural thriller stars Christina Ricci as Cassie Grant, an American traveller who suffers amnesia when hit by a car. After accepting sanctuary from the family of the car that hit her, Cassie starts hallucinating that terrifying strangers are following her. Is it concussion or second sight? And what do her frightening visions have to do with an ancient church? A riveting performance by Ricci is supported by a stellar cast including Ioan Gruffud, Stephen Dillane and Kerry Fox.

As you've probably heard by now, 20th Century Fox is trying to get Andy Serkis a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Academy Awards for playing the CGI ape Ceasar in Rupert Wyatt's awesome movie, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I think it would be incredibly interesting if he did get the nomination, and I hope he gets it just to see what happens and to get peoples reactions. I doubt he would win though. Maybe one day there will be a new award added for Best Motion Capture Actor. For those of you not sure if an actor dressed up in a mo cap suit should be nominated for an award, here's a video showing off Serkis' acting talent without all the CGI effects.
James Franco thinks that Serkis should be nominated and recognized for the role and his talent of motion capture acting. He recently...

Andy Serkis' motion capture performance as "Caesar" in Rise of the Planet of the Apes has gained a huge amount of critical acclaim since the release of the movie last summer. The support for the actor to receive awards recognition in the form of an Oscar nomination for "Best Supporting Actor" has ramped up with an official campaign by 20th Century Fox and now last year's Oscar host James Franco and Serkis' Apes co-star has weighed in with his thoughts. Here is the letter in full courtesy of Deadline. The new Planet of the Apes film, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, belongs to Andy Serkis. Narratively it was always his film: I play an emotionally stilted scientist who in the process of mistakenly unleashing a lethal virus on the human race, learns to care for others; Serkis gets to play Caesar, essentially Che Guevara in chimp form.
