Ion is the story of a man that chooses to marry for money, instead of pursuing his true love. He marries a rich and ugly girl just to realize that money isn't everything in life and end up with a broken home, a dead child, a mean mistress...the curse of the land.

A good movie after an even better book. This movie will give you a glimpse at life in Transylvania around the beginning of the twentieth century.

It gives you the chance to experience a little bit of Romanian traditions, culture and beautiful landscapes accompanied by extraordinary music.

There are some plot holes, for a more in depth experience I recommend the book.

Overall it is worth following Ion in his journey, it may give you something to think about.
