Ocalic miasto

I watched "Ocalic miasto" (Save the city) with great interest, even though I knew that some of it was probably Soviet propaganda. But the fact that Warsaw was the most destroyed city in World War II, while Cracow remained almost intact, is an indisputable historical fact. I tried to be neutral, and I found this film very engaging. Lomnicki's film (who witnessed these events as a teenager) concerns precisely the most important weeks of the winter of 1944/45 for the city. The director attempted an artistic reconstruction, and this is what he said: Wherever possible, I create these events anew while remaining in accordance with history. My heroes, their features, manner of behaving, and acting are the result of the fates of many authentic figures. Not being an expert in history, it seemed to me that the main events in the film were presented in a truthful way.
