Cantando a la vida

I saw this movie not long ago in Telemundo Puerto Rico, its not a great movie but is Massiel in it she is a great singer an at the time of the movie she was a big star and A Eurovision winner the only Spanish singer ever to win, she regret winning Eurovision because she said many people in Spain hate her for it ,amazing as is sound the spaniard are like that, i love this movie, Massiel sing my favorite song as en Busca de ti and at the end of the movie she wear a very sexy dress back in the late 60s this movie was a tremendous hit and her fashion were copy everywhere eventually she was in the list of the best dressed people in Spain for many years until they start to hate her, BUT MASSIEL SURVIVE AND TODAY SHE IS A VERY WEALTHY WOMAN, this movie was directed by Angelino FONS a good director but in this one he missed all the way, the only reason to watch this movie is for the fashion and for see and hear Massiel sing

Yes, this film never could win an Oscar but... the Spanish musical History can't be written without Massiel, she's the great lady in the music. I can say that this film can be taken like a great 60's video clip. And Massiel , her voice , her great charisma is always present in the brain and senses of all the Spanish speakers, including those from Cataluña.Massiel sang and won the Eurovision Song Festival in London with a simple and unforgettable song in the Cervantes'language.Then Massiel is the great value of this film.I agree in the point: she's not an actress (like a lot of little young women). The plot is so vanish and bizarre. The costs were minimum and really the producers seem tried to make easy money based in the Massiel'success.It could be worse but to hear the sound track with that special voice is a pleasure.

This film is somehow based on the fact that Massiel (the main actress) won that year the Eurovision Song Contest for Spain with the song La, La, La. The film itself is incredibly awful, but, who could resist to see the recent winner of the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest with new songs and perhaps even an added story? I think that no more words are required to explain the success this film had. As I said in another commentary, Massiel appears with few clothes on, but at present I consider that to be a secondary point for the film's success.

This is one of those films you should avoid:

First point. Massiel is an awful singer (for me and I guess that for many people like me).

Second point. The plot is almost inexistent, and the screenplay is ridiculous. There are dialogue lines where I started laughing. The reason is obvious. The director had eight songs sung by Massiel with their own lyrics, he had to adapt the screenplay to them to make sense... and the result is, I guess, a little senseless.

Third point. The background music has nothing to do with the movie. There are a couple of themes mixed here and there with no relation with the scenes.

Fourth point. The actors are awful.

This film had a good box-office when it was released. The only reason I can imagine for that is that Massiel appears with few clothes on. And, believe me, that was a powerful reason in Spain in 1968.

I'll give it 3 out of 10, and that's just because I know there must be even worst films which deserve lower ratings.
